Rhodes Old Town

A visit to Rhodes historic Old Town is within easy reach from Faliraki. Just 1o minutes’ drive north or a 20-minute water taxi ride, this medieval walled city lies within, but completely separate from, the modern New Town. Surrounded by high walls and a moat, this historic area is a maze of narrow alleys it’s almost impossible to navigate. Enjoy getting lost among the picturesque streets and stumbling across amazing architecture at every turn, from mosques, to palaces, to Ottoman baths. Few cities have such a strong sense of living history and the area is well deserving of its UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

Acropolis of Lindos

Head south for 35km and you’ll reach the picturesque town of Lindos. One of the highlights of Lindos, aside from the gorgeous sandy beaches and the dozens of pretty rooftop restaurants, is the ancient hilltop acropolis. Parts of the acropolis are thought to date back as far as 300 BC, making this a fascinating historical site. Built on top of a 116-metre-high rock, the views down over the city and the sea are so spectacular the long, steep climb up countless steps to the top is worth it. Or hire a donkey to carry you up the hill! A great day trip destination.
