Punta Prima

The Spanish town of Punta Prima is the quintessential Menorcan coastal destination. Here you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and soak up the laidback atmosphere of this family friendly resort.

Punta Prima has a spotless blue flag beach which offers the perfect vantage point from which to enjoy the sun and look out onto the lapping turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Along the beachfront you will find a few bars and plenty of restaurants serving both Spanish and international fare. There are also a good number of shops, including some selling gifts and souvenirs, as well as a couple of supermarkets where you will find all the essentials you could possibly need.

When you’re not lounging on the beach there are plenty of things to see and do in and around Punta Prima. Here you’ll find there are several walking routes that take you into the heart of the picturesque Menorcan countryside. The coastal walks towards the two nearest resorts of Cala Alcaufar and S’Algar are particularly scenic and give you the opportunity to explore these two popular destinations.

Located on the south eastern coast of the Balearic island of Menorca, just 15 minutes’ transfer from the airport, Punta Prima is one of the island’s longest running, and most popular, beach resorts. The long stretch of white sandy beach makes it the ideal spot for enjoying the famous Mediterranean weather and relaxed pace of life. And the island’s capital, Mahon, with its vibrant shops, bars and restaurants, is within easy reach for those seeking something more lively.

Punta Prima’s blue flag beach is the focal point of the resort, and the clean, warm water makes it a brilliant beach for swimming and snorkelling. The beachfront has good amenities, with a few bars and restaurants scattered along the water’s edge.

While Punta Prima is a lovely place to just while away your holiday enjoying the beach, the sun, and the friendly eateries, it’s also a fantastic base for exploring more of the island of Menorca. If you’re a fan of hiking, the Cami de Cavalls (Path of Horses) coastal path has over 180 km of trails to keep you busy. There are also lots of picturesque neighbouring towns and beaches to visit in the area. And, of course, Menorca’s capital city, Mahon, is less than half an hour’s away – with all of the culture, history and nightlife you’d expect from a bustling capital city. This little corner of Menorca has plenty to discover.

Mahon (Mao)

Menorca’s capital Mahon (or Mao) has developed around its harbour (the second largest natural harbour in the world at 5km). Built on the cliffs surrounding the port, Mahon is an intriguing blend of British and Spanish architecture and culture, thanks to their lengthy reigns in the 1700s. Just 12km, or 20 minutes’ drive, from Punta Prima, it’s within easy reach for exploring.
The city has a lively hub of bars and restaurants around the marina, and its narrow streets are great for exploring and discovering the many boutiques and historic buildings Mahon has to offer. If you’re interested in history, particularly military history, there are various museums and sites of interest to visit, which tell the interesting story of Menorca’s past.
