Tamarindo in the Guanacaste province in Costa Rica is one of the best developed towns for tourists. It has a long beach with two areas perfect for experienced surfers. The rest of the beach is perfect for novices. There are many lagoons in the area. You can also use Tamarindo as a base to explore the other breaks to the north and the south.

December to April is leather back turtle time when they lay their eggs on the beach. 60 to 90 days later the hatchlings make their way from the nests back to the sea. The town has a active and extended night life. Costa rica is also known for its jewelery.

Daniel Oduber International Airport 4km from Liberia, 80 min by taxi and longer by bus from Tamarindo. Local airstrip/airport is 3km from Tamarindo. A local flight from Liberia to Tamarindo is possible but will be expensive. Tamarindo airport to/from San José flights are 7 days a week.
