The majority of the travel industry have 3 days pencilled in their diary for each November when then know things will be hectic: one very crowded Jubilee Line, praying the DLR runs as it should, and selecting some of your sturdiest shoes to walk the many halls of the Excel Centre. As a BDM, it is the magic of being able to meet with existing clients, and lots of potential new ones, from literally all over the world and under one roof which will keep me going back year after year.

Over the two days, I met people from over 13 different countries without having to get on a single flight - unbelievable! Technology certainly makes life easier day-to-day, and I do very much appreciate being able to stay in regular contact with our international clients over Skype for example, but you definitely cannot beat that putting a face to a name.

I also find the timing of the trade show ideal. Meeting companies towards the end of the year makes you reflect on how the year has gone and the lessons you have learned together, but you then also look forward to the projects and targets you wish to set for the following year.

My time at the show this year was made up with back-to-back meetings but it is also a great event to listen to key speakers from the industry and, thanks to new Travel Forward section, get a great insight into the developments being made in technology and how us, as the travel industry, will be able to benefit from them.
