Blue Lagoon is by far the most popular touristic beach in Akamas. The lagoon is also sometimes referred to as Chamili Bay, and is the largest bay in the Akamas district. What makes it so popular is its gorgeous, crystal clear, sky-blue waters, and the shelter that the large bay provides.

If you are visiting Cyprus, Blue Lagoon in Akamas is definitely a must-see destination.

Swimming At Blue Lagoon

If you’re looking for a great swimming beach, Blue Lagoon is ideal! The bay is mostly sand, and quite shallow which makes it great for kids. The water is extremely warm, because the bay is so sheltered, and in summer it can reach up to 30 degrees Celsius.

In the middle of the bay, you’ll find a small reef which has a fair amount of fish, shells and other marine life. Make sure to pack in your goggles, snorkel and underwater camera if you have one so that you can make the most of this snorkelling opportunity.
