Autumn, the transition between Summer and Winter. In the Northern Hemisphere it begins in September and in the Southern hemisphere it begins in March. This beautiful season is a favourite for many people, the temperatures begin to drop, there are plenty of clear, crisp mornings and best of all the trees are full of stunning colours, different shades of red, green, orange and yellow. There are so many amazing places in this world, we've picked out 10 of the most beautiful landscapes in Autumn.


Kyoto, Japan

Kyoto, Japan First on the list is Kyoto, Japan. Located on Honshu island, the beautiful city has stunning natural scenery and plenty of it. Here, Autumn begins in September and ends in November, and is a lovely time of year to visit this Japanese city. The average temperature is 21C in September, 17C in October and 12C in November, so although it gradually gets cooler, Kyoto still has warm days, especially earlier on. There's a lot of temples in Kyoto, most are surrounded by beautiful gardens and arbours, which turn brilliant shades of orange, red and yellow in Autumn. Daigo Ji Temple, is a popular choice for tourists to visit, as seen in the picture above. The vibrant colours of the trees and landscape are simply beautiful and perfect for capturing holiday photos to show off once home!


Transylvania, Romania

Transylvania,Romania Transylvania is a region in Romania in eastern Europe, boarded by Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, Serbia and Ukraine. Romania's vast forested mountains remain largely uninterrupted except for the occasional castle, making it home to some of Europe's most gorgeous autumnal landscapes. The rolling burgundy and copper hills outside of Transylvania are sure to capture the imagination!


Bavaria, Germany

Bavaria, Germany Bavaria looks like it came right out of a children's storybook. Located in southern Germany and surrounded by the soaring Alps and lush swathes of pine forests, this fairyland like city has breath-taking views and the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle. While the views here are beautiful all year round,  Autumn really steals the show. The changing colours of the leaves across the land make the forest seem even more magical and worth exploring.

Burnham Beeches, Buckinghamshire, UK

Burnham Beeches, UK Burnham Beeches is located in Buckinghamshire, in the South East region of England. It is a national nature reserve, known for its stunning woodland, variety of plants, trees and wildlife. It's a top place to visit during Autumn due to the landscape and woodland areas. During the earlier months, the green leaves begin their transformation to a whole spectrum of beautiful colours.


Jiuzhaigou Valley, China

Jiuzhaigou, China. Located in the North of China the Jiuzhaigou Valley is an enormous area that stretches over 180,000 acres! This nature reserve and national park became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992 and hosts some of the country's most incredible views. You can find plenty of waterfalls, snowy mountains and lakes full of colour. Five Flower Lake, as seen in the photo above, is a shallow lake located in the park. It's crystal clear water allow you to see the fallen tree trunks resting at the bottom of the lake. Surrounded by a diversity of trees and flora, the Jiuzhaigou Valley is a stunning destination to visit in Autumn.


The Great Smokey Mountains, North Carolina/Tennessee, USA

Great Smoky Mountains The Great Smoky Mountains are located along the North Carolina/Tennessee border. Known locally as the Smokies, this misty mountain range is part of a national park which protects the natural integrity of this wonderful landscape. The Smokies are a popular choice for hikes, cycling and other outdoor activities. The best time to see the park in all of its Autumn glory is around mid-October. For about two months of the year, the changing of the foliage lights up the mountainsides with a rainbow of colours.


Muong Hoa Valley, Sa Pa, Lao Cai Province, Vietnam

Muong Hoa Valley, Vietnam Muong Hoa Valley is located in Sa Pa, Vietnam, between Sapa Town and the Fansipan Mountain - an area that's popular for wet rice agriculture. Throughout the valley, you can find streams, waterfalls and rocks with ancient carvings under the trees. The valley is popular all year round, however in Autumn crowds of tourists come to visit due to the beautiful colours of the foliage


Palouse Region, Washington, USA

Palouse, USA Palouse is a region located in the North West of America which stretches across three different states; Oregon, Washington and Idaho. This mainly rural land is used for agriculture and is known for producing wheat and legumes. With the onset of Autumn, farmers will begin ploughing fields as the trees begin turning different shades of red, orange and yellow. Palouse is truly an idyllic pastoral getaway during the Autumn months.


Tuscany, Italy

Tuscany, Italy Tuscany is the bucolic region in Italy that's known for its history, renaissance-like landscapes and the famous leaning tower of Pisa. From rows of vineyards to golden sunflower fields, Tuscany takes the cake on stunning views. During Autumn the weather is usually sunny with occasional rainy days and temperatures average around 27C in September then gradually drops off throughout Autumn.

Fuji, Japan

Mt Fuji, Japan Mount Fuji is located in the Yamanashi Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo. The area surrounding the base of Mount Fuji is appropriately known as Fuji Five Lake and attracts many tourists every year. There is a festival held every November called Fuji Kawaguchiko, or Autumn Leaves Festival. The maple trees are lit up every night so visitors may admire their beauty and colourful leaves. During the Fuji Kawaguchiko markets and food stalls are set up along the streets for people to enjoy food and drinks while admiring the Autumn foliage.


Red Seabeach, Panjin, China

Red Beach, China The famous Red Beach in China is one of the world's most unique natural phenomenon. The Red Beach gets its name from the Sueda Salsa, a plant that starts its growth cycle in April and lasts throughout the year, lighting up the area in an array of red shades that completely blanket the top of the water. The Red Beach is one of the largest marshes in the world and is home to hundreds of different birds and aquatic species. It's definitely an eye-catching place to visit and perfect for a trip in Autumn!
