Bad Ischl

Bad Ischl is a spa town in Austria. It lies in the southern part of Upper Austria, at the Traun River in the centre of the Salzkammergut region. A subcamp of the Dachau concentration camp was located in the town.

At only 468 m altitude Bad Ischl with its 13.887 inhabitants combines noble tradition with a fresh zest for life. What to do: take a trip by cablecar, visit the Emperors Villa, the Salt Mine, the Operetta Festival or the Salzkammergut Golf Club. Play some tennis, explore the hiking or cycling tracks.

Bad Ischl is the best-known health resort of the Salzkammergut region.

Take time and explore Lake Wolfgangsee on a horse-drawn sleigh. Fascinating winter scenery awaits you. Lake Wolfgangsee offers winter activities such as ice fishing, ice skating and alpine curling. Stop for a snack in one of the numerous huts. Skiers can take advantage of the nearby Katrinalm ski area. There is also the Zwoelferhorn mountain in St. Gilgen or the Postalm mountain (Europes second largest high plateau) in Strobl.
