The city of Hurghada is one of the most exciting and vibrant holiday destinations in Egypt. It is situated on the western part of the Red Sea Riviera and enjoys a year-round, subtropical climate. Founded in the 20th century, Hurghada was a small fishing village and is now the second largest town on the coast.

Hurghada is divided into 3 districts: El Mamsha is the modern part of the city with many shopping facilities, Sigala: the resort part of Hurghada with numerous hotels; and El Dahar, the historical old town. El Dahar features narrow streets and bazaars, and boasts many cultural attractions including mosques.

Hurghada has a beautiful 40 km long coastline and dozens of private hotel beaches. The beaches boast soft white sand and the sea is turquoise. It is a perfect place for scuba diving as there are many coral gardens and World War II wreckages to discover. The Hurghada Marine Boulevard offers a wide range of shops and restaurants to enjoy when you aren’t in the water. Another popular activity is taking a desert safari on camel-back. Alternatively, visitors can also relax in one of the numerous spas of Hurghada.

The surrounding area of Hurghada is also worth a visit; the city of Luxor offers a great day out for the whole family and nearby Giftun Island is perfect for snorkelling.
