Megalochori

Megalochori means “big village” in Greek but, with only 460 permanent residents, it's name is not completely justified. It is, however, one of the most authentic villages of Santorini having kept its traditional Cycladic houses, neoclassic buildings and small houses dug into volcanic rock intact. Megalochori is also home to Boutaris, one of the most well known wine-making firms in Greece. Tours on wine tasting, its history and the history of the island can be undertaken and there is no shortage of accommodation and entertainment.
