Bjelasnica is a mountain 20 minutes south-west of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is very popular for skiing and hiking. Local hiking clubs maintain the numerous hiking trails that lead up the mountain. The trees donΆt grow above 1500 meters leaving the peaks bald while the lower part is forrested. Some events of the 1984 winter Olympics took place on Bjelasnica. The war during 1992-1995 killed tourism but they are quickly returning to the standards that were required from an olympics host. Tourism grows by 24% yearly. It is the steepest of the ski slopes in the area. Take one of the three lifts to the summit at 2067 meters and ski down to 1200m in 10 minutes. All war damages on ski resorts have been repaired.
