What if I'm stuck inside the airport (luggage, immigration)?

Use the emergency number on your e-ticket to call the driver or local supplier and let them know you're still in the terminal. The driver will wait through their free period and, if reached in time, can sometimes extend.

The resort sits high, and that is the point. Sestriere was built for snow rather than grown into a village, which gives it reliable cover and an exposed, open feel that some people love and some do not. Read a piste map before you choose it over the tree-lined runs at Sauze d'Oulx.
You can ski into France. Montgenèvre is part of the same lift network, and Briançon is 35 km away by road. Take a passport, and check what your insurance says about cross-border cover before you go.

From Malpensa the drive is the same ending after a much longer beginning, roughly 240 km in all. From Geneva it crosses the border before joining the same valley, and that journey runs to about three hours.
