Bardonecchia
Bardonecchia is a charming Italian town nestled in the Province of Turin, in the Piedmont region, situated in the western part of the Susa Valley.
Known for hosting the snowboarding events during the 2006 Winter Olympics, Bardonecchia is also home to the Bardonecchia Guitar Festival, La Nuova Camerata dei Bardi, founded by Pier Luigi Cimma.
Located about 90 km (56 mi) from Turin, the town sits at the intersection of four valleys and is surrounded by majestic mountains, some of which boast peaks exceeding 3,000 meters (9,800 feet). The town is bisected by the Bardonecchia Stream, a tributary of the Dora Riparia. Its historic center is set on a hill, while the more modern part of town has developed around the train station. Bardonecchia has expanded over time due to its strategic role in customs, logistics, and tourism, incorporating nearby villages and becoming one of the largest towns in the Susa Valley.
The town is well-connected to France via the Fréjus Road Tunnel and a railway tunnel, which is part of the TGV route between Paris and Milan.
Bardonecchia also includes several charming hamlets, such as Les Arnauds, Melezet, Millaures, Le Gleise, Beaulard, Grange Horres, La Rho, and Rochemolles.
