Which airport is closest to Ruka?

Kuusamo Airport (KAO), 29 km away and about 26 minutes by road. It takes direct flights from Helsinki through the winter, and it is the airport most people use for Ruka. It is also the dearest transfer of the three, for the reason in the next answer.

How much is a transfer to Ruka?

It depends which airport you fly into. A private car is £760 from Oulu, £793 from Rovaniemi and £946 from Kuusamo Airport. Those are indicative, one way.

How long is the transfer from Rovaniemi to Ruka?

About 2 hours 20 minutes for 197 km, door to door. After fresh snow allow up to two and a half hours. The longer figure you will see quoted elsewhere is the same road in worse weather, and it is the one to plan a connection on.

Why is the nearest airport the dearest transfer to Ruka?

Because Kuusamo is a very small Arctic airport. Few local operators work it, so nothing presses down on the price of the 29 km hop, while the long drives from Rovaniemi and Oulu are served out of much bigger towns and priced against each other. Compare the flight and the transfer together rather than one at a time.

Is there a bus to Ruka?

I forgot to request a child seat — can I add it after booking?

Yes. Contact customer service as soon as possible to add it to your booking. Late requests are honoured subject to availability, so the sooner you ask, the better. Important: no refund or replacement applies if a driver arrives without a seat that wasn't requested in time.

Is my child seat guaranteed once I've added it to my booking?

If you've added the seat at the time of booking, it's confirmed with your transport supplier. Seats requested after the booking is placed are subject to availability. If a seat ends up unavailable on arrival because it wasn't requested in time, no refund applies.

Can I bring a pet or service animal?

Yes, at no extra charge. Notify us at booking so the right vehicle is allocated. Important: animals count toward the vehicle's passenger capacity — so a 5-seat vehicle with two pets has three human seats.

What if my flight is delayed?

Will my driver wait if my flight is late?

Yes. Your driver waits up to 60 minutes free after your scheduled arrival for airport pickups. For international flights, there's also a 30-minute buffer added on top — so your driver's free waiting period starts after that buffer ends.

What if my flight is delayed by more than 2 hours?

Contact customer service to reschedule. If we can't pick you up at the new time, the order is cancelled without charge.

What if my flight is cancelled entirely?

Your transfer is cancelled free of charge. Contact customer service immediately so we can update the booking.

What if my flight is diverted to a different airport?

Contact us immediately. We'll do our best to reschedule your pickup — though we can't guarantee a free transfer if the new airport is in a different region or significantly further from your destination.

Where will I meet my driver?

24 hours before pickup we send a final SMS or WhatsApp with the exact meeting point and your driver's contact details. Meet & greet at the arrival gate is available on request, subject to airport policy — if not possible at the gate, we'll assign an alternative meeting point.

What if I'm stuck inside the airport (luggage, immigration)?

Use the emergency number on your e-ticket to call the driver or local supplier and let them know you're still in the terminal. The driver will wait through their free period and, if reached in time, can sometimes extend.

What counts as a no-show?

Not appearing within the free waiting period and being unreachable for additional time. No-shows are charged in full and non-refundable.

Rovaniemi gives you the most vehicle choice. Ten types from £793, up to 14 seats, which makes it the only gateway here able to carry a group of twelve. Rovaniemi is also a holiday in its own right if you want a night on the Arctic Circle first.
Put the property name in, not just the resort. Cabins are strung along the roads around the fell, and the drop is at whichever door you name rather than at the village centre.
Splitting the vehicle is the real saving. Every fare here is per vehicle, so an 8-seat minibus at £1,158 divided eight ways beats two private cars comfortably.
Declare the ski bags. One bag per person up to 24 inches is standard; over 24 inches counts as two pieces, and that changes the vehicle you need.
