Ljubljana Airport to Bled Transfers Private Cars, Taxis, Shuttles, Minibuses & Transfers to Lake Bled, Bohinj & Kranjska Gora

Fixed-price door-to-door transfers from Ljubljana Airport to Bled

Bled is a lake town at the foot of the Julian Alps, and it is not a ski resort. The lifts are elsewhere: Vogel above Lake Bohinj, Krvavec, and Kranjska Gora up by the Austrian border. What Bled gives you is somewhere worth coming back to at the end of the day, with a castle on a cliff, a church on an island and a bakery queue for the cream cake.

Arrive through Ljubljana and the road leg is small: about 35 km, 30 to 40 minutes, from £74 for a private car. Arrive through Venice, as the cheap flights invite you to, and the same lake costs more than ten times that.

Private car from £74 · Free cancellation up to 24 hours before travel · Prices are indicative. Check hoppa.com for live prices.

What Bled visitors ask before they book

Three airports reach this lake and the gap between them is wider than any other decision on the trip.

The basics

How long is the transfer from Ljubljana Airport to Bled?

About 35 km and 30 to 40 minutes, which is short enough that you can land at lunchtime and be on the lakeside path by mid-afternoon. From Zagreb it is 207 km and roughly two hours. From Venice Marco Polo it is around three hours and two border crossings.

How much is a Ljubljana Airport to Bled transfer?

£74 in a private car seating 3 with their gear, £90 in an MPV seating 5, £110 in an 8-seat minibus. Each figure is the vehicle, not the head. Indicative, one way.

Which airport should I fly into for Bled?

Ljubljana, unless something makes it impossible. A private car is £74 there against £392 from Zagreb and £960 from Venice Marco Polo, and the drive is half an hour rather than two or three.

Is Bled a ski resort?

No, and this catches people out every season. There are no lifts in the town. Vogel sits above Lake Bohinj 30 km away, Kranjska Gora is 40 km, and Krvavec is the closest to the airport rather than to the lake. Bled is where you sleep and eat, not where you ski.

Is a transfer from Venice really worth avoiding?

Look at the two numbers before you book the flight. A private car is £960 from Venice Marco Polo and a 36-seat coach is £4,450. The same vehicles from Ljubljana are £74 and £1,001. A cheap fare into Italy is not a cheap way to reach this lake.

Is there a shared shuttle from Ljubljana Airport to Bled?

There is no shared shuttle on this route. Every hoppa transfer here is a private vehicle, booked door to door and priced per vehicle, which is why the fare improves the more of you there are.

Which vehicle fits my group?

How many people and how much luggage fit in each vehicle?

Vehicle categories include Sedan, Business Sedan, Minivan, Business Minivan, Minibus and Bus. Each has a strict insured maximum for passengers and luggage that drivers must adhere to. Default luggage allowance is one 24-inch suitcase per passenger — bags larger than 24″ count as two pieces. Choose a category that fits both your party and your bags.

Will I get the exact car shown in the picture?

Vehicle images are for illustration only. You're booking a category, not a specific model — and we may upgrade you to a higher category at no extra charge if your selected one isn't available.

Can I add a child seat for my baby or toddler?

Yes. We offer infant carriers, baby seats and boosters depending on your supplier and route. Add the seat type you need during booking so it can be confirmed in advance.

How much does a child seat cost?

The first child seat in your booking is included free. Any additional seats may carry a fee from the supplier — the exact amount is shown in your booking quote before you pay, so there are no surprises.

I forgot to request a child seat — can I add it after booking?

Yes. Contact customer service as soon as possible to add it to your booking. Late requests are honoured subject to availability, so the sooner you ask, the better. Important: no refund or replacement applies if a driver arrives without a seat that wasn't requested in time.

Is my child seat guaranteed once I've added it to my booking?

If you've added the seat at the time of booking, it's confirmed with your transport supplier. Seats requested after the booking is placed are subject to availability. If a seat ends up unavailable on arrival because it wasn't requested in time, no refund applies.

Can I bring a pet or service animal?

Yes, at no extra charge. Notify us at booking so the right vehicle is allocated. Important: animals count toward the vehicle's passenger capacity — so a 5-seat vehicle with two pets has three human seats.

Do you have wheelchair-accessible options?

Yes. Note any accessibility need (wheelchair, mobility scooter, special assistance) in the booking comments. We work with specialised partners and make reasonable efforts to accommodate.

What if my flight is delayed?

Will my driver wait if my flight is late?

Yes. Your driver waits up to 60 minutes free after your scheduled arrival for airport pickups. For international flights, there's also a 30-minute buffer added on top — so your driver's free waiting period starts after that buffer ends.

What if my flight is delayed by more than 2 hours?

Contact customer service to reschedule. If we can't pick you up at the new time, the order is cancelled without charge.

What if my flight is cancelled entirely?

Your transfer is cancelled free of charge. Contact customer service immediately so we can update the booking.

What if my flight is diverted to a different airport?

Contact us immediately. We'll do our best to reschedule your pickup — though we can't guarantee a free transfer if the new airport is in a different region or significantly further from your destination.

Where will I meet my driver?

24 hours before pickup we send a final SMS or WhatsApp with the exact meeting point and your driver's contact details. Meet & greet at the arrival gate is available on request, subject to airport policy — if not possible at the gate, we'll assign an alternative meeting point.

What if I'm stuck inside the airport (luggage, immigration)?

Use the emergency number on your e-ticket to call the driver or local supplier and let them know you're still in the terminal. The driver will wait through their free period and, if reached in time, can sometimes extend.

What counts as a no-show?

Not appearing within the free waiting period and being unreachable for additional time. No-shows are charged in full and non-refundable.

Best price & current deals

Where can I find a discount code?

Active offers are applied automatically when you search — there's nothing to enter manually. To see what's currently running, check our discount codes page or our homepage banner.

Should I book early?

Yes. We recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance for the best vehicle selection. Bookings within 24 hours are subject to availability and may carry an expedited service fee. Booking early also locks in today's price.

Is there a low-deposit option?

On selected services and destinations, yes — pay a deposit now and the balance before your travel date. If the balance isn't paid in time the booking auto-cancels and the deposit is forfeited. Note: low-deposit bookings can't be paid with hoppa Credits.

What is Refund Protect?

An optional add-on at checkout from our partner Refund Protect. If you (or anyone in your party) can't attend for a covered reason, you receive 100% of your booking back. Refund Protect's decision is final — see their full terms when adding the option.

Can I use hoppa Credits from a previous booking?

Yes. hoppa Credits apply automatically to your next booking when you log in with the same email. They expire 12 months after issue, can't be transferred between accounts, and can't be combined with low-deposit bookings.

Can I cancel and get a refund?

Yes, depending on timing and vehicle size. Up to 7 seats: free cancellation more than 24 hours before pickup; 100% charge within 24 hours. 8–14 seats: free outside 48 hours. 16+ seats: free outside 14 days, 50% within 14–7 days, 100% within 7 days. Approved refunds process within 14 days to your original payment method.

Aren't I just paying a middleman fee?

Your payment covers both our booking service and the supplier's fare — we pay the supplier on your behalf. That's what gives you a fixed all-in price, dispute resolution, and a single point of contact if anything goes wrong on the trip.

Are the drivers vetted and licensed?

We only work with established local transport partners who meet our service and safety standards, and who operate under their own local licensing and insurance requirements. Each supplier is contracted directly by hoppa.

Is my booking and payment secure?

Yes. Payments are processed through industry-standard encryption and secure payment gateways. Your booking details and personal information are protected throughout the transaction.

Can I get a VAT invoice for expenses?

Yes — contact customer service within 30 days of your trip to issue an invoice.

I left something in the car

Contact customer service as soon as possible. We'll make reasonable efforts to recover and return your item, but we can't guarantee retrieval and don't accept liability for items left behind.

Smoking, damage and cleaning fees

Smoking or vaping in any vehicle triggers a minimum cleaning fee and the driver may end the trip; the fare becomes non-refundable. Rubbish, spills or other damage in the vehicle can also incur a cleaning fee. Both are disclosed before they are applied.

What are hoppa Credits?

Credit issued on refunds or as a goodwill gesture. They apply automatically to your next booking when you log in with the same email, expire 12 months after issue, can't be transferred, and can't be combined with low-deposit bookings.

How do I cancel my booking? Can I get a refund?

Cancel from your account or by contacting support. Refund depends on timing and vehicle size: up to 7 seats — free outside 24 hours, 100% charge within 24 hours. 8–14 seats — free outside 48 hours. 16+ seats — free outside 14 days, 50% within 14–7 days, 100% within 7 days.

Can I change my booking details?

Yes, but only for: passenger names, contact numbers, number of passengers, and luggage count (within the booked vehicle's capacity). One free modification is allowed if your booking is eligible. For other changes — including route, vehicle category or pickup point — you'll need to cancel and rebook at the current price.

How long do refunds take to process?

Approved refunds are processed within 14 days to your original payment method.

Common problems on the run to Bled, and how hoppa solves them

Most of what goes wrong on this trip is decided before anyone packs a bag, at the moment the flight is chosen. Each row below is a moment that catches people out, and what booking the road leg ahead does with it.

Challenge Solution How do we solve it?
You booked a cheap flight into Venice Price the road leg before you price the airfare. Venice Marco Polo to Bled is around three hours and two national frontiers. That road costs £960 in a private car and £1,337 in an 8-seat minibus, against £74 and £110 from Ljubljana. The saving on the ticket disappears at the kerb.
You arrived with skis expecting lifts in town Treat Bled as the base and the ski area as a separate journey. There are no lifts in Bled. Vogel is above Lake Bohinj, 30 km and about 35 minutes away, and Kranjska Gora is 40 km. Plan a daily run out to the snow, or stay closer to the lifts and come to Bled for the days off.
Your flight lands late Book a transfer with flight tracking and 24/7 support. hoppa watches your inbound flight and moves the Ljubljana pickup to match. Airport arrivals carry 60 minutes of free waiting after your scheduled landing, plus 30 minutes more on international flights.
You took the train and found the station is not in Bled Arrange the last few kilometres before you board. Trains from Ljubljana stop at Lesce-Bled, about 4 km short of the lake and roughly 10 minutes by road. That is a pleasant walk without luggage and an awkward one with a ski bag and a toddler.
There are nine of you Count the party properly before you choose the vehicle. Ljubljana prices an 8-seat minibus at £110 and the next size up, a 10-seater, at £422. Nothing sits between them. If your ninth traveller is a maybe, the answer to that maybe is worth knowing before you book.
Your skis and boards do not fit the car that turns up Declare the ski bags at booking rather than at the kerb. Tell hoppa how many ski, board and boot bags are coming and the vehicle sent has the space for them. From Ljubljana the step up is small: £85 for a four-seat MPV and £90 for five, against £74 for the car.
You are changing accommodation halfway through the week Give the exact property name on every leg you book. Bled is strung around a lake with hotels on the shore, guesthouses up the hill and apartments out towards Lesce. A postcode is not enough here. Enter the property name and your driver goes to the right door instead of the nearest lay-by.

Why do Bled travellers choose a private transfer with hoppa?

Because the journey to this lake is short and the ways of getting it wrong are not. Ljubljana Airport is 35 km out, which sounds like a taxi ride and is, right up until you land at nine in the evening in February with four ski bags and find the rank empty.

A transfer booked ahead removes that whole question. One vehicle from arrivals to your hotel door on the shore, for a figure settled before you flew.

  • One price, settled at booking. No meter on the Gorenjska road, no evening rate, and fresh snow on the hill above the lake does not revise it.
  • Door to door, to the hotel, guesthouse or apartment you named, whether it is on the lakeside or up the hill behind it.
  • Room for the gear, because the bag count you give is what sizes the vehicle sent to Ljubljana arrivals.
  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before travel on vehicles seating 7 or fewer.
  • Flight tracking with 60 minutes of free waiting after your scheduled landing, plus a 30 minute international buffer.
With a standard ride app When you book with hoppa
The driver Whoever happens to be at Ljubljana arrivals when your flight lands. A vetted local operator on the Gorenjska roads, confirmed to your name before you fly.
The price A meter for half an hour, or a figure invented at the kerb because you have nowhere else to go. A fixed all-in price agreed at booking, with taxes and the driver's fee already inside it.
Choosing the airport The cheapest flight wins, and the transfer from Venice Marco Polo turns out to be £960. You see £74 from Ljubljana, £392 from Zagreb and £960 from Venice side by side, before the flight is booked.
The vehicle A saloon with room for two suitcases, and three board bags left on the pavement beside it. Sized from the gear you declared, and driven by someone who does this run through the season.
Travelling as six or seven Two cars, two fares, two drivers and a hotel arrival in two waves. One 8-seat minibus at £110 from Ljubljana, which is less than this airport charges for an executive car.
A delayed flight The ride is gone, and Ljubljana arrivals at 23:00 is a quiet place to find another. The pickup moves with your inbound flight. 60 minutes of free waiting, plus 30 more on an international arrival.
Arriving by rail You reach Lesce-Bled and discover the lake is another 4 km away. Book the last leg to the property address in advance and the train becomes the easy part of the day.

How long is the transfer from Ljubljana Airport to Bled?

About 30 to 40 minutes, covering roughly 35 km north-west into the Julian Alps. It is the shortest airport run of any resort base in Slovenia, and at £74 for a private car it is also the cheapest.

The other two gateways are longer, and they are not longer in proportion to their price. Zagreb is 207 km and roughly two hours. Venice Marco Polo is around three hours across two frontiers. The drive time doubles or trebles; the fare multiplies by a good deal more than that.

Route Drive time Approx. cost per vehicle Vehicle type
Ljubljana Airport (LJU) to Bled 30–40 min · 35 km £74–£110private car to 8-seat minibus Private car to 8-seat minibus — closest, cheapest, and the gateway this page is built around
Zagreb Airport (ZAG) to Bled ~2 hr · 207 km £392–£527private car to 8-seat minibus Private car (4 seats) to 8-seat minibus — the sensible fallback when Ljubljana has no flight on your dates
Venice Marco Polo (VCE) to Bled ~3 hr · two border crossings £960–£1,337private car to 8-seat minibus Private car to 8-seat minibus — the route the cheap flights lead to, and the one to price before you book them

Please note: Distances and drive times are the ones this page has always published; the Venice figure is given as a drive time only, because the two distances previously shown for it disagreed. Each price runs from a private car to the cheapest 8-seat minibus that route returns, so the top of the range is a bigger vehicle rather than a surcharge. Coaches follow the same pattern at a wider gap: 36 seats is £1,001 from Ljubljana, £2,185 from Zagreb and £4,450 from Venice. Prices are indicative.

How much is a transfer to Bled?

From £74 one way for the whole car from Ljubljana Airport to the lakeside, so a party of three meets it once between them.

The prices stay low and level all the way to eight seats — a minibus for eight costs less than the executive car for three. Then they jump. Ten seats is several times the eight-seat fare with nothing in between, so a group of nine should think hard about which way to round.

Zagreb is on the table as the fallback gateway, two hours out and in a different bracket. Prices are indicative.

The right vehicle for Bled is decided by your ski bags as much as your headcount. Beyond the priced options above, hoppa runs a wider range of vehicle types:

  • Wheelchair accessible minibus: 1 to 6 seats, for travellers and families with mobility needs. Request it at booking.
  • Private coach: up to 60 seats for a club or corporate group. From Ljubljana that is £896 for 23 seats and £1,001 for 36. Vehicles seating 16 or more need 14 days' notice to cancel free of charge.

Child seats are free: the first one at no charge, requested at booking. Pets and service animals are permitted and count toward the vehicle's passenger allowance.

Vehicle type Max passengers Luggage capacity Why choose this option? Estimated price (one-way)
Private car (Ljubljana) Up to 3 Up to 3 ski or board bags Couples and threes going straight to a lakeside hotel. The cheapest way to reach the water from the airport. From £74
Private MPV, 4 seats (Ljubljana) Up to 4 Up to 4 ski or board bags Two adults, two children and the boot space a saloon does not have. The usual family answer on this run. From £85
Private MPV, 5 seats (Ljubljana) Up to 5 Up to 5 ski or board bags Five travellers and five sets of gear, still inside the short-hop price band. From £90
Private minibus, 8 seats (Ljubljana) Up to 8 Up to 8 ski or board bags Six, seven or eight people in one vehicle for less than the executive car costs. Vehicles seating 8 to 14 need 48 hours' notice to cancel free of charge. From £110
Executive car (Ljubljana) Up to 3 Up to 3 ski or board bags A business arrival, or simply a better car for the half hour up to the lake after a long flight. From £127
Executive MPV (Ljubljana) Up to 5 Up to 5 ski or board bags Executive comfort with room for five sets of skis. The upgrade families ask for when the gear list runs long. From £148
Large minibus, 10 to 14 seats (Ljubljana) Up to 14 Up to 14 ski or board bags The first size above the 8-seater, and a long step. Worth checking whether your party is really more than eight. From £422
Large minibus, 16 seats (Ljubljana) Up to 16 Up to 16 ski or board bags Club trips and extended families. Vehicles seating 16 or more need 14 days' notice to cancel free of charge. From £633
Private coach (Ljubljana) Up to 36 Up to 36 ski or board bags School parties and club trips. Ljubljana is the only gateway on this page that returns a coach at all, so the flights settle this before the transfer does. From £896
Private car (Zagreb) Up to 4 Up to 4 ski or board bags The floor fare from the fallback gateway, two hours out. Listed so the gap between the airports is visible before anyone books a flight. From £392

A few things worth knowing before you book:

  • Choose the airport before you choose the flight. Ljubljana is £74 for a car, Zagreb £392 and Venice Marco Polo £960. That gap is bigger than any airfare saving you are likely to find.
  • Bled has no lifts. Vogel is 30 km away at Lake Bohinj, Kranjska Gora is 40 km, and Krvavec is out towards the airport. Book a base here knowing you will drive to the snow.
  • The station is not in town. Lesce-Bled is about 4 km out, roughly 10 minutes by road.
  • Declare the ski bags. One bag per person up to 24 inches is standard; over 24 inches counts as two pieces, which a ski bag usually does.
  • Ask for the child seat at booking. The first one is free, but it has to be requested in advance.
  • Cancellation depends on the vehicle. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before travel on 7 seats and under, 48 hours on 8 to 14 seats, 14 days on 16 and above.
  • Booking inside 24 hours still works, though an expedited booking fee applies.

How else can you get to Bled?

Slovenia is small and well connected, so there are real alternatives here in a way there are not on most mountain routes. Buses run from Ljubljana's central station into the middle of town, and trains run to Lesce-Bled.

The catch is the same in every case: something has to cover the last stretch, and with ski bags that stretch is longer than it looks on a timetable.

Transport option Indicative price to Bled Journey time What's included / what to watch for
hoppa private car (Ljubljana Airport to your Bled hotel) From £74 per vehicle 30–40 min The shortest route to the lake and the cheapest vehicle on it. A named driver waits inside arrivals with a name board and takes you to the property door, whether that is on the shore or up behind the castle.
hoppa private minibus (Ljubljana Airport to your Bled hotel) From £110 per vehicle 30–40 min Eight seats for less than this airport's executive car. £110 carries a party of six, seven or eight in one go. There is no shared shuttle on this route, so a private vehicle is the hoppa option at every size.
Bus from Ljubljana central bus station Ticketed per person ~1 hr Frequent, inexpensive and it stops in the heart of town, a short walk from the lake. You have to reach the bus station from the airport first, and the 54 km run is slower than the direct road.
Train to Lesce-Bled station Ticketed per person, plus the last leg Varies by service, plus ~10 min The Ljubljana line stops at Lesce-Bled, about 4 km from the lake. Local buses and taxis cover the rest in roughly 10 minutes. Book that final leg in advance if you are carrying skis rather than a rucksack.
Direct bus from Vienna Ticketed per person Varies Vienna is 400 km away, around four and a half hours by road, and direct coaches do run. A long day with luggage, but a genuine option if the Vienna flight is the one that suits.
Hire car from the airport (third-party) Day rate + fuel 30–40 min from Ljubljana Worth it if you are skiing Vogel or Kranjska Gora on several days, because the lifts are 30 to 40 km out and you will make the trip more than once. Winter tyres are a legal requirement in Slovenia during the winter months, so check what is fitted before you drive away.
Turning up and hoping for a taxi No fixed price Varies Avoid. Ljubljana is a small airport and late arrivals meet a thin rank. There is no agreed figure, no guarantee the car takes four board bags, and nobody to call if it does not. Book ahead.

What should you know about skiing from Bled in winter?

Bled does not ski. It is a base, and a very good one, for three areas that do. Vogel rises above Lake Bohinj 30 km away and has the best snow record of the three. Kranjska Gora is 40 km up towards the Austrian border, with the World Cup slalom hill. Krvavec sits on the other side of the valley, closer to the airport than to the lake, and is the one people ski on an arrival day.

Basing yourself on a lake rather than on a piste changes the shape of the week, in three ways worth settling before the hotel is booked:

  • Decide whether you want the lake or the lifts. Staying here means a drive to the snow each morning and a proper town to come back to each evening. Staying at the ski area means the opposite. Neither is wrong; picking by accident is.
  • The season here is not only the pistes. Triglav National Park is 25 km out, Vintgar Gorge 5 km, and the lake path is walkable in any weather. A day the snow is poor is a day out rather than a day lost.
  • Slovenian winter roads are good and the passes are not. Winter tyres are a legal requirement in the winter months, and the route up to Bohinj or Kranjska Gora climbs. Vetted local operators run winter-equipped vehicles on these roads through the season.

The one thing Bled will not do is put a chairlift at the end of your street. Arrive knowing that and it is the most comfortable week in Slovenia; arrive expecting a ski resort and the first morning is a disappointment.

Your Bled arrival guide, from Ljubljana Airport to the lakeside

Wheels down at Ljubljana to a hotel on the shore is under an hour: oversized baggage, a small arrivals hall, a name board, then 35 km through the Gorenjska countryside.

What follows walks that hour through, sets out how Zagreb and Venice differ, and answers the question the lake itself cannot: how you reach a chairlift from here.

Arrival guide to Bled

Everything you need from wheels down at Ljubljana to your first morning on the lake.

Landing at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU)

Ljubljana is the gateway to Bled by a very wide margin: about 35 km, 30 to 40 minutes by road, and £74 for a private car. It is a compact single-terminal airport, so there is nothing to transit and no shuttle between buildings. You walk from the gate into arrivals.

Meeting your hoppa driver

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall holding a name board with your surname. Twenty-four hours before pickup hoppa sends a final SMS or WhatsApp with the exact spot and your driver's contact details.

  • Airport arrivals carry 60 minutes of free waiting after your scheduled landing, plus a 30 minute buffer on international flights
  • Your driver tracks the inbound flight, so a delay moves the pickup rather than losing it
  • If you cannot see them, stay where you are and call the number on your e-ticket. hoppa answers in an average of 11 seconds, and it is a person rather than a chatbot
Tip: Ljubljana quietens down fast in the evening. If your flight lands after nine, a booked transfer is the difference between leaving in ten minutes and waiting for a rank to refill.

Baggage & ski gear

Skis and boards are checked in as special baggage and come off a designated oversized belt rather than the standard carousel. Tell hoppa how many ski, board and boot bags you are carrying when you book, so the vehicle sent has the space. The standard allowance is one bag per person up to 24 inches, and anything longer counts as two pieces, which a ski bag almost always does.

Landing somewhere else instead

Three airports reach this lake and they are not interchangeable. Book the transfer for the airport you are actually landing at:

  • Ljubljana (LJU) — 35 km, 30 to 40 minutes, from £74. Closest and cheapest at every vehicle size.
  • Zagreb (ZAG) — 207 km, roughly 2 hours, from £392. The fallback when Ljubljana has no flight.
  • Venice Marco Polo (VCE) — around 3 hours across two frontiers, from £960. Price this before you book the flight, not after.

From Ljubljana Airport the road runs about 35 km north-west, half an hour of motorway and valley road with the Julian Alps filling the windscreen for the last ten minutes. It is one of the shortest airport runs in the Alps and it looks like a postcard the whole way.

From Zagreb the approach is 207 km and roughly two hours, crossing into Slovenia on the way. From Venice Marco Polo it is around three hours and two national frontiers, which is the part nobody pictures when they book the flight.

Worth knowing: the page you may have read elsewhere calls Bled a ski resort with slopes of its own. It is not one. The nearest lifts are at Vogel above Lake Bohinj, 30 km and about 35 minutes away.

Where you are dropped

Bled is strung around the shoreline and up the slope behind it, so the address matters more than the town name:

  • The lakeside — the hotels on the promenade, closest to the boats and the church view
  • Above the lake — guesthouses and apartments on the hill, a steep walk down and a steeper one back
  • Towards Lesce — quieter apartments out by the station, about 4 km from the water

Give the property name when you book and your driver goes to the door rather than to the nearest car park.

Winter on this road

Slovenian main roads are well maintained and cleared quickly. Winter tyres are a legal requirement during the winter months, and the climbs start as soon as you leave the valley for Bohinj or Kranjska Gora. Every vetted operator on this route runs winter-equipped vehicles through the season.

Getting from the lake to a chairlift

This is the question the old version of this page never answered, so here it is plainly: there is no lift in Bled, and every ski day starts with a drive.

  • Vogel — above Lake Bohinj, 30 km and about 35 minutes. The highest of the three and the one with the snow record. Full page: Vogel transfers.
  • Kranjska Gora — 40 km and about 35 minutes, up towards the Austrian border, with the World Cup slalom hill and the gentlest nursery area of the three.
  • Krvavec — on the airport side of the valley, which makes it the obvious choice for an arrival or departure day rather than a midweek one.
Tip: if you are skiing on more than two days, work out whether a hire car for the week beats a daily transfer before you book either. If you are skiing once or twice, it does not.

Days off the snow

The island church and the clifftop castle are the two things everyone comes for, and both are open through winter. Vintgar Gorge is 5 km away, Triglav National Park 25 km, Radovljica and its old town 7 km. The cream cake is not optional.

Timing your arrival

A morning flight into Ljubljana has you at the lake before lunch with the whole afternoon free. Transfers run through the night; a nighttime surcharge applies between 22:00 and 08:00 local time and is already inside the price you agreed.

Practical essentials

Your transfer, in numbers

  • Free waiting on airport arrivals: 60 minutes after your scheduled landing, plus a 30 minute buffer on international flights
  • Free waiting on departures and point-to-point: 15 minutes after the scheduled pickup time
  • Cancellation: 24 hours before travel on 7 seats and under, 48 hours on 8 to 14 seats, 14 days on 16 seats and above, all for a full refund
  • Child seats: the first one is free. Request it at booking
  • Luggage: one bag per person up to 24 inches. Over 24 inches counts as two pieces
  • Nighttime surcharge: 22:00 to 08:00 local time, already included in the price you agree
  • Booking inside 24 hours: possible, with an expedited booking fee
  • Pets and service animals: permitted, counting toward the vehicle's passenger allowance

Paying for it

Your transfer is paid once, upfront, in the currency you booked it in, so there is nothing to settle with the driver at the end of the journey. hoppa takes Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro and PayPal.

Money and borders on the ground

Slovenia uses the euro and sits inside the Schengen area, so an arrival from Venice or Vienna crosses no staffed frontier. Croatia joined Schengen too, so the Zagreb run is the same. Carry your passport regardless: spot checks happen and hire companies ask for it.

If something goes wrong

hoppa's support team answers in an average of 11 seconds, 24/7, across chat, email and phone, with a 99.7% call answer rate. The hoppa help centre is the place to start if you would rather read the answer than ask for it. Any complaint must reach customer service within 30 days of the date of service.

Before you leave home: screenshot your e-ticket. The meeting point and the emergency number are the two things you want on the screen rather than in the cloud when you land.

What to expect on the road to Bled

Half an hour from Ljubljana, two hours from Zagreb, three from Venice. Those three drives are not variations on one journey, and the cards below say what each one is really like, then where the lifts sit once you are at the lake.

Can I cancel or change my hoppa transfer?

Yes. Plans change, and hoppa prices that in rather than punishing it.

Cancellation windows depend on the size of the vehicle you booked:

  • 7-seater and below: cancel up to 24 hours before travel for a full refund.
  • 8 to 14 seater: cancel up to 48 hours before travel for a full refund.
  • 16 seater and above: cancel up to 14 days before travel for a full refund.

Changes work the same way. Amend your pickup time, flight number or drop-off address through your booking confirmation or by contacting the hoppa team. Booking inside 24 hours of travel is still possible, though an expedited booking fee applies.

Is hoppa transfer reliable?

Yes. hoppa has moved more than 40 million travellers through 2,600+ airports and resorts across 182+ countries, working with a network of 70,000+ vetted local fleet providers. hoppa is trusted by Mastercard and UnionPay as the mobility infrastructure layer for agentic travel.

On the Ljubljana Airport to Bled route that reliability is practical, not abstract. Your driver tracks your inbound flight, so a delay moves your pickup rather than losing it. You get 60 minutes of free waiting time after your scheduled landing, plus a 30 minute buffer on international arrivals. If something does go wrong, hoppa's support team answers in an average of 11 seconds, 24/7, across chat, email and phone, with a 99.7% call answer rate.

Every vehicle on this route is operated by a vetted local company that drives the mountain roads all winter. The price you agree at booking is the price you pay, with no surcharge for snow, traffic or a late landing.

Can an AI assistant book hoppa?

Yes. hoppa is built as a global mobility platform that powers agentic transactions, which means an AI assistant can search, price and book a transfer on your behalf.

That is why hoppa is trusted by Mastercard and UnionPay as the mobility infrastructure layer for agentic travel. Fixed, all-in pricing and a structured inventory of 70,000+ vetted local fleet providers give an AI agent something unambiguous to act on: one price, one vehicle, one confirmed pickup.

Ask your assistant for a Ljubljana Airport to Bled transfer and it can return live availability, vehicle sizes and a fixed price without you opening a booking form.

Arrive happy & ready for the lake with hoppa

Ljubljana is the gateway. Zagreb costs several times as much and Venice is in another league again, because Slovenia looks close to Italy on a map and prices like the separate country it is.

The second thing to settle is what you came for. Bled has a castle on a cliff, a church on an island and no chairlift of any kind. The snow is half an hour away at Vogel. Come for the town and drive out to the slopes and it is the best week in Slovenia. Come expecting to ski from the front door and no transfer, at any price, can fix that.

Bled transfers: frequently asked questions

What is the closest airport to Bled?

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, about 35 km away and 30 to 40 minutes by road. It is also the cheapest of the three airports that serve this lake, at £74 for a private car, so on this route the nearest and the best value are the same airport.

How much does a private transfer from Ljubljana Airport to Bled cost?

A private car starts from £74 one way for up to 3 passengers, a four-seat MPV from £85 and a five-seat MPV from £90. Larger parties take an 8-seat minibus from £110 or a 16-seater from £633. Prices are indicative and fixed at the moment you book.

How do I get to Lake Bled from Venice?

By private transfer it is around three hours, crossing two frontiers. Price it before you commit to the flight: £960 in a private car, £1,337 in an 8-seat minibus, £4,450 for a 36-seat coach. The same three vehicles out of Ljubljana are £74, £110 and £1,001.

How do I get to Lake Bled from Zagreb?

It is 207 km and roughly two hours. A private car carrying four is £392, an 8-seat minibus £527 and a 16-seater £1,263. Zagreb is the right choice when it is the flight that exists on your dates, rather than a saving.

Can you visit Lake Bled on a day trip from Ljubljana?

Easily. The city is 54 km and about 50 minutes away, buses take around an hour from the central station, and the lake path takes under two hours to walk. Plenty of people do it between a morning and an evening flight.

How do I get to Lake Bled from Ljubljana by public transport?

Buses run from Ljubljana's central bus station and stop in the middle of town, a short walk from the water. Trains stop at Lesce-Bled, about 4 km out, with local buses and taxis covering the last 10 minutes.

Where can I ski near Bled?

Vogel above Lake Bohinj is 30 km away and about 35 minutes, Kranjska Gora is 40 km, and Krvavec sits on the airport side of the valley. None of them is in Bled itself, so allow for the drive when you plan the week.

Can hoppa take a group of eight to Bled?

Yes, and it is the best-value vehicle on the page. An 8-seat minibus from Ljubljana is £110, which is below the £127 this airport charges for an executive car. There is nothing between five seats and eight, so a party of six or seven simply books the minibus.

What about a group of twelve or more going to Bled?

From Ljubljana a 10-seater is £422, twelve seats £475, fourteen £527 and sixteen £633. Above that a 23-seat coach is £896 and a 36-seat coach £1,001. Note the jump from eight seats to ten and check your headcount carefully.

Can I take ski and snowboard bags in a hoppa transfer to Bled?

Yes, and this is the thing to declare when you book. The standard allowance is one case up to 24 inches per passenger, and anything longer counts as two pieces, which a ski or board bag usually does. Say how many are coming and the operator sends a vehicle with the boot for them.

What happens if my flight into Ljubljana is delayed?

hoppa watches the inbound flight and moves the pickup to match. Airport arrivals carry 60 minutes of free waiting after your scheduled landing, plus a 30 minute buffer on international flights, and support answers in an average of 11 seconds if you need it.

Are the roads to Bled safe in winter?

The valley road from the airport is motorway and well-kept main road, cleared quickly after snow. The climbs towards Bohinj and Kranjska Gora are a different matter in bad weather. Winter tyres are a legal requirement in the winter months, and vetted local operators run winter-equipped vehicles on these roads all season.

Is Lake Bled worth visiting in winter?

It is arguably better than in summer. The crowds thin out, the castle and the island church stay open, Vintgar Gorge is 5 km away and Triglav National Park 25 km, and the cream cake tastes considerably better in the cold.
