Where will I meet my driver?

24 hours before pickup we send a final SMS or WhatsApp with the exact meeting point and your driver's contact details. Meet & greet at the arrival gate is available on request, subject to airport policy — if not possible at the gate, we'll assign an alternative meeting point.

What if I'm stuck inside the airport (luggage, immigration)?

Use the emergency number on your e-ticket to call the driver or local supplier and let them know you're still in the terminal. The driver will wait through their free period and, if reached in time, can sometimes extend.

What counts as a no-show?

Choose the airport before you choose the flight. Ljubljana is £74 for a car, Zagreb £392 and Venice Marco Polo £960. That gap is bigger than any airfare saving you are likely to find.
Bled has no lifts. Vogel is 30 km away at Lake Bohinj, Kranjska Gora is 40 km, and Krvavec is out towards the airport. Book a base here knowing you will drive to the snow.
The station is not in town. Lesce-Bled is about 4 km out, roughly 10 minutes by road.
Declare the ski bags. One bag per person up to 24 inches is standard; over 24 inches counts as two pieces, which a ski bag usually does.

How else can you get to Bled?

Slovenia is small and well connected, so there are real alternatives here in a way there are not on most mountain routes. Buses run from Ljubljana's central station into the middle of town, and trains run to Lesce-Bled.

The catch is the same in every case: something has to cover the last stretch, and with ski bags that stretch is longer than it looks on a timetable.

What should you know about skiing from Bled in winter?

Bled does not ski. It is a base, and a very good one, for three areas that do. Vogel rises above Lake Bohinj 30 km away and has the best snow record of the three. Kranjska Gora is 40 km up towards the Austrian border, with the World Cup slalom hill. Krvavec sits on the other side of the valley, closer to the airport than to the lake, and is the one people ski on an arrival day.

Basing yourself on a lake rather than on a piste changes the shape of the week, in three ways worth settling before the hotel is booked:

Decide whether you want the lake or the lifts. Staying here means a drive to the snow each morning and a proper town to come back to each evening. Staying at the ski area means the opposite. Neither is wrong; picking by accident is.
The season here is not only the pistes. Triglav National Park is 25 km out, Vintgar Gorge 5 km, and the lake path is walkable in any weather. A day the snow is poor is a day out rather than a day lost.
Slovenian winter roads are good and the passes are not. Winter tyres are a legal requirement in the winter months, and the route up to Bohinj or Kranjska Gora climbs. Vetted local operators run winter-equipped vehicles on these roads through the season.

The one thing Bled will not do is put a chairlift at the end of your street. Arrive knowing that and it is the most comfortable week in Slovenia; arrive expecting a ski resort and the first morning is a disappointment.

North-west into Gorenjska

From Ljubljana Airport the road runs about 35 km north-west, half an hour of motorway and valley road with the Julian Alps filling the windscreen for the last ten minutes. It is one of the shortest airport runs in the Alps and it looks like a postcard the whole way.

From Zagreb the approach is 207 km and roughly two hours, crossing into Slovenia on the way. From Venice Marco Polo it is around three hours and two national frontiers, which is the part nobody pictures when they book the flight.

Worth knowing: the page you may have read elsewhere calls Bled a ski resort with slopes of its own. It is not one. The nearest lifts are at Vogel above Lake Bohinj, 30 km and about 35 minutes away.

Where you are dropped

Bled is strung around the shoreline and up the slope behind it, so the address matters more than the town name:

The lakeside — the hotels on the promenade, closest to the boats and the church view
Above the lake — guesthouses and apartments on the hill, a steep walk down and a steeper one back
Towards Lesce — quieter apartments out by the station, about 4 km from the water
