The road down the Pinzgau

From Salzburg the route runs south on the A10 Tauern autobahn, leaves it near Bischofshofen, and follows the B311 west through Taxenbach and Bruck an der Glocknerstraße to the head of the Zeller See. Munich arrivals join the same road at Salzburg and drive the identical second half.

From Innsbruck the road is different and prettier: the A12 east to Wörgl, then up through Kitzbühel and over the Pass Thurn at 1,274 m to Mittersill, then east on the B168. It is the one leg of the three with a mountain pass on it, which is why the drive time matters more than the distance.
