An Indonesian island evoking thoughts of paradise, Bali is known for its forested volcanic mountains, rice paddies, beaches and coral reefs. It has the most stunning views of the sun setting and is a hotspot for those who love to travel due to it’s rich, diverse culture, sights, and the truly welcoming people.

Although there are two ways to do Bali, one of which is to stay in a luxurious resort in Seminyak, we recommended spending a least two weeks travelling the island and have listed the best places to stay and visit below.

Ubud is a tranquil town in the heart of Bali and is considered to be the cultural heart. Home to hundreds of shops selling everything from antiques, textiles, paintings and jewellery, it is a flourishing crafts centre where you can find the countries best museums. Becoming a very popular place, you will find lots of traffic and busy street, but fortunately, you can escape to the surrounding rainforest where you can take a stroll along the rice paddies or visit Hindu temples.

Hotels we recommend in Ubud:

  • Kamandalu
  • Furama
  • Goya Boutique

Things to do in Ubud:

  • Visit the monkey forest
  • Take a trip to a museum
  • Explore on a rice field walk
  • Relax and unwind with a yoga or pilates class

Gili Trawangan

A paradise island off the shores of Bali, Gili Trawangan, also known as Gili T, is the hub of the Gili islands. Those expecting a slow dreamy retreat may be surprised to see the bustling streets full of bikes and other visitors – but it is one of Indonesia’s most visited destinations. Whilst it is a popular place to be, it still holds a bohemian vibe. There are ambitious restaurants as well food stalls, lounge bars with reggae joints in between, and quiet retreats along the north coast.

Hotels we recommend on Gili T:

  • Vila Ombak Hotel
  • Peal of Trawangan
  • Aston Sunset Beach Resort

Things to do on Gilli T:

  • Watch the turtles hatch
  • Enjoy the watersport activities on offer
  • Party on the beach
  • View the underwater scenery at dive school

Seminyak is a very dynamic place and holds a sense of style. It has some of the best restaurants and great clubs, as well as spas and high-end boutiques - probably why it is home to the majority of Bali’s expats. World-class hotels and stunning villas line the coastlines, as well as some of the best clubs with stunning sunset scenes.

Hotels we recommend in Seminyak:

  • Alila Seminyak
  • The Seminyak Beach Resort and Spa
  • The Amala

Things to do in Seminyak:

  • Visit Petitenget Temple
  • Take pictures at the Dream Museum Zone
  • Treat yourself to a spa treatment
  • Shop in some amazing boutiques
  • Watch the sunset

Want to break up the long flight home? Spend a day or two exploring the incredible place that is Singapore.

Holding a sense of mystery, Singapore displays a futuristic skyline with architecture but at the same time showcases the most beautiful green spaces. Away from the shiny façade you can escape in the history and culture and find bustling markets, temples and lots of great food.

Hotels we recommend in Singapore:

  • Marina Bay Sands
  • Carlton Hotel Singapore
  • Park Regis Singapore

Things to do in Singapore:

  • Wander round Gardens by the Bay
  • Visit the animals at the zoo or night safari
  • Explore the infamous Botanic Gardens
  • Love to shop? Visit Orchard Rd shopping mall
