The Katschberg ski resort is located on the border of the provinces of K&auml;rnten and Salzburg covering two mountains - those of Katschberg (2,020m) and Aineck (2,220m). Katschberg is a well-developed tourist centre, made popular by its 66 kilometeres of excellent and well-maintained ski trails, catering for families is its speciality. 
 
Katschberg town, with its Roman connection, lies on a plateau at an altitude of 1,641m, immediately above the Katschberg tunnel. Accommodation consists mostly of four-star hotels and self catering apartments with ski-in and ski-out convenience, not a usual feature of European resorts. Folklore evenings are popular, and bars and discos offer varied night life.
