Icmeler (marmaris icmeler)

Sweeping bays, picturesque pine forests and magnificent mountains are just three of the beautiful natural resources that the southwestern Turkish resort Icmeler has to offer. One of the first things most holidaymakers look for when searching for the perfect destination is a beautiful beach, and Icmeler has that base completely covered with its blue-flag beach, surrounded by a wide sand and shingle beach that curves around the entire bay. The beach is surrounded by palm and eucalyptus trees which provide plenty of shade and the promenade – which runs all the way to the bigger and more populous resort of Marmaris – is lined with shops, bars and restaurants to give you a feel of the local culture. There’s a full quota of water sports here with pedalos, banana boats, jet-skis and paragliding. It is also a top place for renting a boat and even snorkelling and diving, too.
Being so close to the huge resort of Marmaris has obvious benefits for the comparatively smaller resort of Icmeler. Firstly and most obviously Marmaris is just a short journey away and is an easy destination to travel to in order to experience some of the resorts more adventurous nightlife and attractions. But it also means that Icmeler can revel in the relative peace of the resort, allowing tourists to experience a part of Turkey that doesn’t feel quite so touristy.
For those wanting to get a dose of activity on their holiday, there are a number of hikes that you can venture on, in and around the mountains. Beautifully clad with a mass of pine trees, the mountains have a range of different treks you can take, from those suitable for a beginner to those more suited to seasoned pros. No matter which walk you embark on, you’ll have to remember to take your camera to snap a picture of the beautiful bay.
Situated on the Aegean Coast, Icmeler is the perfect starting point for many boat trips in the area, so make sure you do your research and find the perfect one for you. Some of the picture-perfect coves aren’t accessible by road so make sure you do take up one of the many boat trips on offer and if you ask nicely, the skipper will stop in a remote spot on the ocean so you can make the most of the idyllic settings and have a swim in solitude.
