It seems, in any conversation about romantic travel, that the same handful of destinations pop up time and time again. Don’t get us wrong, we love Paris, Venice, and Santorini as much as anyone, but sometimes you want something a little outside the box. Here are just a few of the wonderful, whimsical places you might want to consider for your next romantic getaway.
Jeju Island - South Korea
Despite being popular with South Korean couples of all ages and known as the country’s unofficial honeymoon capital, beautiful Jeju Island doesn't come to mind as a romantic destination for most foreigners. It really should, though. Between the stunning oceans, waterfalls, and caves that dot the landscape, there’s no shortage of spots perfect for making unforgettable memories with your sweetheart. Jeju Starlight World Park and Planetarium is a must-see. After all, is anything more romantic that a starry sky? And if you want your romance a little spicier, don’t forget to stop by Love Land, the island’s sex-themed sculpture park.
Quebec City - Canada
With it’s cobblestoned streets and courtyards, cafes, boutiques, and breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River, Quebec City has an abundance of old world charm but is also brimming with modern flair. Stroll through the many parks, or take a bike ride along the river, and let the sound of church bells wash over you. For a more bohemian experience, stunning Saint-Roch is only a short cab ride away, and promises all the eclectic beauty one could want for a romantic rendezvous.
Perugia - Italy
The Umbrian capital city of Perugia, perched on a hilltop and overlooking a verdant valley, have much to offer those in search of romance. Perugia has a rich and storied history of arts and culture, and one need only take a stroll down Corso Vannucci, the main street, to see examples great art and architecture in the Palazzo dei Piori and the National Gallery of Umbria.
