Krakow Airport transfers: what travellers ask before the Old Town, Kazimierz or Zakopane

Pick a topic for the questions people search most about getting from Krakow Airport (KRK) to the Old Town, Kazimierz and the Tatras.

Krakow Airport transfer prices

How much is a taxi from Krakow Airport to the Old Town?

A private car for up to 3 people costs from £28 (about 135 zł). A minibus for up to 8 starts from £40 (about 195 zł).

The rank outside runs a meter, so the fare only settles when the ride ends. A pre-booked car fixes it before you fly. The final quote moves with your dates, your group size and any hoppa promotion live at checkout. Prices are indicative.

Is a shared shuttle cheaper than a private car from Krakow Airport?

A shared seat to the Old Town starts from £26 per person (about 125 zł). The whole car for up to 3 starts from £28.

Travel alone with one bag and the seat saves you £2. Two of you pay £52 (about 250 zł) for seats, so the car wins from the second passenger. A shared vehicle can wait up to 45 minutes at the airport for other passengers. Your travel details change the quote, and a hoppa promotion running at checkout can lower it. Prices are indicative.

How much is a transfer from Krakow Airport to Kazimierz?

A shared seat to Kazimierz and Podgorze starts from £24 per person (about 115 zł). A private car for up to 3 starts from £29 (about 140 zł), and a minibus for up to 8 from £33 (about 160 zł).

Kazimierz is the district most visitors pick to stay in. Narrow streets suit a driver who knows the door. Dates, passenger numbers and a hoppa promotion at checkout all shift the figure you see. Prices are indicative.

How much is a transfer from Krakow Airport to Zakopane?

A private car for up to 3 starts from £134 (about 650 zł). A minibus for up to 8 starts from £174 (about 845 zł).

No shared seat runs this road, so every Tatras transfer is a private vehicle. A full minibus brings the fare down to roughly £22 each. Expect the quote to follow your travel details, with any hoppa promotion applied when you pay. Prices are indicative.

What is the cheapest way from Krakow Airport to the city centre?

The shared seat is the lowest hoppa fare, from £26 per person to the Old Town. Three of you in one private car at £28 pay under £10 each.

Both fares are fixed at booking, free to cancel and driven by vetted local operators. The rank gives you no figure until the meter stops. The final quote moves with your dates, your group size and any hoppa promotion live at checkout. Prices are indicative.

Does the Krakow Airport transfer price include tolls and night hours?

Yes. One figure covers the Balice pick-up charge and the tolls on the road south. Some routes add a night fee between 22:00 and 08:00.

When that applies, the quote you see before paying already includes it. You hand the driver nothing at the kerb.

How long is the Krakow Airport transfer?

How far is Krakow Airport from the city centre?

The airport sits about 11 km west of the city at Balice. The Old Town is roughly half an hour away by road.

Kazimierz takes about 25 minutes. Your driver plans from the exact address you give at booking.

How long is the transfer from Krakow Airport to the Old Town?

Allow about 30 minutes in normal traffic. That is dual carriageway most of the way.

Add a little on a weekday morning. Your driver tracks your flight, so a late landing never shortens your ride.

How long does it take to get from Krakow Airport to Zakopane?

Plan on 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours. The road climbs out of the Krakow basin into the Tatras.

Snow adds time on the climb. Your fare stays as booked.

Does traffic slow the Krakow Airport transfer at certain hours?

Yes. The ring road west of the city slows between 07:30 and 09:00 and again from 16:00.

The road back from the Tatras fills on winter Sunday afternoons. That matters more to a Zakopane run than to a city one.

How long is the ride from Krakow Airport to Kazimierz?

About 25 minutes by road. That is a few minutes quicker than the Old Town.

Give the building number as well as the street at booking. The Old Town ring road is one way for much of its length.

Train, taxi or shuttle from Krakow Airport?

How do I get from Krakow Airport to the city centre?

You have three choices. A train runs from the platform beside the terminal into Krakow Glowny, the main station. A private transfer takes about 30 minutes to your door, and the airport rank offers metered taxis.

A light traveller with a bed near the station can take the train. Cases, children or a Kazimierz address make a pre-booked car the easier option.

Is there a train from Krakow Airport to the city?

Yes. A rail platform stands beside the terminal and serves Krakow Glowny. You buy tickets per person at the station.

The train follows a timetable, not your landing time. After Glowny you still finish the trip on foot or by tram.

Is there a taxi rank at Krakow Airport, and is it safe?

Yes. A licensed rank stands outside the arrivals hall. Read the rate card in the window before you get in.

Ignore anyone who approaches you inside the hall with an offer. Your pre-booked driver never asks you for a ride.

Should I pre-book or take a taxi from Krakow Airport?

Pre-book when you want the fare settled before you land. Your driver meets you inside arrivals with a name board.

Take the rank for a short city run at the posted rate, if you do not mind a metered fare. For the Tatras, pre-book.

How do I get from Krakow Airport to Zakopane?

Book a private car or minibus to your door. A coach runs from the Krakow bus station, but you must first reach that station from the airport.

You then lift the luggage on and off twice. A direct vehicle suits an evening landing or ski kit.

Which airport should I use for Krakow?

Krakow John Paul II International Airport at Balice serves the city. Fly in here for the Old Town, Kazimierz and the Tatras.

Fog in the basin sometimes diverts a winter arrival to Katowice or Warsaw. Warsaw Chopin is roughly three hours north by road, as a separate gateway for the capital, covered on its own hoppa page.

Vehicles, kit and child seats from Krakow

Can I take skis and a snowboard on a Krakow Airport transfer?

Yes. Tell hoppa how many pairs, boards and boot bags travel with you. The vehicle then arrives with room for them.

Skis come off the outsize belt, not the main carousel. Collect them before you walk out to your driver.

How much luggage can each passenger bring?

Each passenger brings one case up to 24 inches. A bag over 24 inches counts as two pieces.

Count ski and board bags in the total when you book, so the boot matches your kit.

Which vehicle suits a family of six going to the Old Town?

A private minibus for up to 8 carries six people and their bags. It starts from £40 (about 195 zł) to the Old Town, which is under £7 each.

A private car takes only 3, so two cars cost more. Your travel details change the quote, and a hoppa promotion running at checkout can lower it. Prices are indicative.

Do I pay extra for a child seat in Krakow?

The first child seat is free. Ask for it when you book, so the driver fits it before you land.

Add it early so the right seat is fitted before you land.

Can a school group or choir book a coach from Krakow Airport?

Yes. A private minibus carries up to 22 people and a private coach seats up to 60, all on one fixed price.

Give the final headcount and luggage count at booking so the right vehicle meets you.

Is there a wheelchair-accessible transfer from Krakow Airport?

Yes. A lift-equipped wheelchair-accessible minibus seats 1 to 6 passengers.

Flag it at booking, so the right vehicle turns up for your landing.

Landing at Krakow Airport

Where do I meet my driver at Krakow Airport?

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall, past the barrier. They hold a sign with your surname or the hoppa logo.

A shared-shuttle seat meets at the marked bay outside the hall. Your e-ticket names the driver and the exact point.

How many terminals does Krakow Airport have?

One. Every airline uses the same passenger terminal at Balice.

Your meeting point never depends on who you flew with. The rail platform stands beside the building.

How long will my driver wait at Krakow Airport?

On a domestic flight, your up to 60 minutes of free waiting starts when you land. On an international flight, a 30-minute buffer is added to your landing time first, and the free wait of up to 60 minutes starts after it.

Your driver tracks the flight. A delayed departure moves your pick-up without any action from you.

What if my flight lands more than 2 hours late?

A landing more than 2 hours after the scheduled arrival may need a reschedule. If the driver cannot pick you up as scheduled, the order is cancelled without charge.

Message hoppa support as soon as you know about the delay. The team answers in an average of 11 seconds.

What if fog sends my flight to Katowice or Warsaw?

Winter fog in the Krakow basin sometimes diverts an arrival. Your driver sees it in the flight feed before the hall does.

They contact you to reposition or rebook. You do not need to chase anyone.

What if I cannot find my driver at Krakow Airport?

Stay inside the arrivals hall. Phone hoppa support from the contact details in your booking confirmation.

Support runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A real person answers.

Your return trip and your booking

Can I book a transfer from the Old Town to Krakow Airport?

Yes. Book the return when you book the way in, or add it later. A car then stands at your Krakow door at the hour you named.

Your driver waits up to 15 minutes after the scheduled pick-up time. Be outside with your cases packed.

How early should the car leave Kazimierz for my flight home?

Check in two hours before a European departure, then count back. The run from the Old Town or Kazimierz takes about half an hour.

Zakopane is about two hours away. Sunday afternoons run slower, when the road fills with traffic heading to the city.

Can I cancel my Krakow Airport transfer for a refund?

Yes. On a vehicle of up to 7 seats, cancel at least 24 hours before pick-up for a full refund. Less than 24 hours is charged in full.

Vehicles of 8 to 14 seats need at least 48 hours. On 16 seats or more, 14 days or more is a full refund. Less than 14 days but more than 7 returns 50%, and less than 7 days returns nothing.

How long does a Krakow transfer refund take?

Allow 5 to 7 business days after your cancellation request has been received.

Can I change my Krakow booking after I pay?

You can edit passenger names, contact numbers, passenger count and luggage count within the vehicle's capacity. Expect one free change where your booking is eligible.

A new route, vehicle or pick-up point means cancelling and rebooking at the current price.

Do I pay the driver when I arrive in Krakow?

No. You pay at booking by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro or PayPal. The driver has nothing to collect.

A booking made inside 24 hours of travel can carry an expedited fee.

How much is a taxi from Krakow Airport to the Old Town, Kazimierz or Zakopane?

Three roads leave the same kerb and none of them prices alike. One shared seat to the Old Town costs £26 per head (about 125 zł). The whole car, 3 people and the cases, is £28 (about 135 zł). Kazimierz asks £24 a seat or £29 for the car. Zakopane runs to £134 and offers no shared seat at all.

Look hard at those first two numbers. Travelling on your own you gain £2 by buying the seat. That £2 is the entire prize. Bring one companion and the seats reach £52, while the car holds still at £28. A third passenger rides in that same car for nothing more.

So the seat suits a solo arrival with one bag. Everybody else wins on the car, and the margin widens with each extra head. Prices are indicative. Your own figure settles the moment you book.

Will my driver be waiting if my flight into Krakow lands late?

Krakow lands a lot of its winter flights after dark, into a single arrivals hall, in a country where you are converting every price in your head. You come through with the cases, the hall is busy, and somebody is already asking where you are staying.

Somewhere in that crowd your name is printed and held up for you. The driver holding it has had your flight number on a screen since it pushed back at the other end. A slow departure there moves your Balice pick-up and costs you nothing. On a domestic flight, your up to 60 minutes of free waiting starts when you land. On an international flight, a 30-minute buffer is added to your landing time first, and the free wait starts after it.

Land at one in the morning and the fare reads what it read the day you booked, night hours and all. Nobody obvious in the hall? Stay inside it, then ring the number on your e-ticket. hoppa's team picks up in an average of 11 seconds.

Which Krakow transfer is right for you?

Headcount decides it, and so does whether your bed is in Krakow or under the Tatras. Four ways it lands:

  • One of you, one bag, a city hotel: take the shared seat and save £2.
  • Two or more into the city: the private car at £28 beats two seats outright.
  • Four to eight with luggage: the minibus at £40, one vehicle to one door.
  • Anywhere in the Tatras: a private vehicle, since no shared seat runs that road.
Your travel style Recommended service Why it works
One traveller, one bag, a bed in the Old Town
Shared shuttle seat The seat asks £26. The whole car asks £28. You keep £2 by buying the seat, and you spend it on a wait at the bay and a handful of drops ahead of yours.
Two or three of you heading into the city
A private car Two shuttle seats already cost more than the whole car. Three seats cost well over double it. The car leaves on your landing time and stops at your address.
Family with cases and a buggy
Private car or private minibus The bags go in once and come out at the door. Your first child seat is free when you ask for it at booking.
Skis and boards bound for Zakopane
Private car or minibus Give the number of pairs at booking and the boot arrives with room for them. The alternative is a bus from the Krakow coach station with the kit on your shoulder.
Group of six to sixteen to one address
Private minibus One vehicle, one fare, split between everybody. Nobody counts heads on a platform at Krakow Glowny.
Wheelchair user
Wheelchair-accessible minibus Lift-equipped and pre-booked to your landing time, seating 1 to 6 passengers. Flag it at booking so the right vehicle is the one that turns up.

Why is the Zakopane transfer so much more than the city run?

The two journeys look like one product at two prices. They are not. The city run is about half an hour of dual carriageway. The drive south is a hundred minutes of the Zakopianka, climbing out of the Krakow basin and into the Tatras, with the driver returning empty afterwards.

Divide the fare and it stops looking strange. £134 in a car seating 3 is around £45 each. A minibus at £174 holding 8 comes to roughly £22 a head for a two-hour mountain drive, ski bags inside, straight to the pension door.

Book the car south when:

  • You are four or more with kit. The coach from the Krakow bus station runs well and costs less per seat, but you reach it by first getting into Krakow, then lifting everything on and off again.
  • You land in the evening. Winter darkness on that road is not the moment to work out a connection.
  • You are going on to a pension outside the centre of Zakopane. Coaches stop where the timetable says.

Stay with the city car when:

  • You are in Krakow for the markets and the Tatras are a separate trip. A city fare is a city fare.

The mountain price is distance, not a surcharge aimed at skiers.

Transport option Indicative price to the Old Town Journey time What is included and what to watch for
hoppa shared shuttle seat
from £26 per person Varies with the drops The cheapest way in for one person travelling light. A shared vehicle can sit at the terminal for up to 45 minutes while the remaining seats fill, then calls at several addresses before yours.
hoppa private car (up to 3)
from £28 about 30 min Fixed all-in price, terminal to the door of your apartment. A named driver meets you in arrivals and you cancel free up to 24 hours before travel.
hoppa private minibus (up to 8)
from £40 about 30 min A whole party and its luggage to one address on one fare. Child seats and adapted vehicles are requested in the same step.
Train to Krakow Glowny
Sold per person at the station Runs to a timetable, not to your landing A real option for a light traveller staying near the main station. You buy at the platform, ride into Krakow Glowny, then finish the journey on foot or by tram with your cases.
Airport taxi rank
Metered, settled in zloty Same road, no agreed figure The licensed rank outside the hall is fine for a short city run at the posted rate. Read the card in the window first. Nothing about the fare is settled until the meter stops.
Hire car
Daily rate plus the extras Same road, plus the parking Winter tyres, the city parking zones and a week of garage charges land on top of the headline rate. One of you then drives the Zakopianka in the dark after a dawn flight.

Watch the hidden cost: an arrival stays cheap right up to the point where something has to be agreed at the kerb. Poland is excellent value, and that is exactly what makes the gap sting. Three moments where it opens:

  • A meter running while you hunt for the apartment number.
  • A supplement for the ski bag, announced in Polish over an open boot.
  • A rate card in zloty, on the evening you landed holding none.

hoppa hands you one figure instead, settled in sterling long before you reach Balice. It covers everybody in the vehicle and everything in the boot. Cancelling costs nothing if you do it a day ahead of travel.

How to book your Krakow airport transfer with hoppa

Takes under two minutes to complete.

Book Now

1

Search by flight or route

Enter Krakow Airport as the pick-up, then the hotel or apartment address. In the Old Town give the building number as well as the street, since the ring road around it is one way for much of its length. Add your flight number and hoppa tracks it automatically.

2

Choose your vehicle

Compare a shared shuttle seat, a private car, an MPV, a minibus and a coach side by side on fixed all-in prices. The pick-up charge, the tolls and any night hours sit inside the figure already, and the vehicle types page shows seats and luggage for each.

3

Add extras

Say how many skis, boards and boot bags are travelling. Request child seats (the first is free) or the refundable upgrade. The vehicle extras page lists what you can add.

4

Confirmed instantly

Your e-ticket arrives with your driver's name, vehicle registration, photo and exact meeting point. Krakow runs one passenger terminal, so the meeting point is the same whichever airline you flew.

A few things worth knowing before you book:

Most problems at the Krakow kerb trace back to something nobody checked at booking. These six are the ones that matter.

  • The first child seat is free with every hoppa transfer. Request it at booking: the vehicle extras page shows the seats and boosters you can add, and a seat that is not on the booking can mean a refused ride with no refund.
  • One figure covers the Balice pick-up charge, the tolls on the road south and any night hours between 22:00 and 08:00. The driver takes nothing further.
  • Each passenger gets one case up to 24 inches. A bag over 24 inches counts as two pieces, so size up on the vehicle types page if you travel heavy. Count skis and boards into that total when you book.
  • Free cancellation applies up to 24 hours before travel on cars up to 7 seats, 48 hours before on 8 to 14 seaters and 14 days before on 16 seats and above. On a 16+ seater you get half the booking value back when you cancel less than 14 days but more than 7 days before pick-up, and nothing back less than 7 days before. The hoppa help centre walks you through a cancellation or a change.
  • Pets and service animals are welcome. They count toward the vehicle's passenger capacity, so flag them at booking.
  • Book inside 24 hours of travel and an expedited booking fee applies, so lock the booking in before you reach that window.

What a Krakow winter actually looks like

Krakow holds its Christmas market in a medieval square under a cloth hall, and keeps it running long after the lights go up elsewhere. South of the city the Tatras take over. The two sit two hours apart on the same road.

Can I cancel or change my hoppa transfer?

Yes. For a private car or any vehicle up to 7 seats, cancel at least 24 hours before travel for a full refund. Larger vehicles carry longer windows: 8 to 14 seaters at least 48 hours before, and 16+ seaters at least 14 days before. Cancel a 16+ seater less than 14 days but more than 7 days and you get half the booking value back. Inside 7 days you get nothing. Where your booking is eligible, you can make one free change to passenger names, contact numbers, passenger count or luggage count. A change of route, vehicle type or pick-up point means cancelling and rebooking at the current price. You can add a refundable upgrade at booking. Its price depends on the booking and the vehicle you choose. The first child seat is free when you request it at booking.

Image

Is hoppa transfer reliable?

The worry is a simple one. You land at Balice and nobody is there. Your driver works for a Krakow firm whose licence, insurance and service standards hoppa checked before it took a single booking. That pool runs to 70,000+ vetted local operators in 182+ countries. 40M+ travellers have been met off a flight on exactly that arrangement, which is why hoppa is trusted by Mastercard and UnionPay. Your price was agreed weeks ago. Your flight is watched. The phone gets answered at three in the morning.

Krakow sits in a basin that holds fog, and the road south climbs into real snow. Your booking covers the days the weather gets a vote, like this:

  • Polish rules require winter tyres on the mountain roads through the season. Every vehicle running the Zakopianka is equipped, and your driver checks the pass conditions before setting off.
  • Fog on the Krakow plain can send an arrival to Katowice or Warsaw. hoppa's operator learns that from the flight feed rather than from the board in the hall, and rings you to reposition.
  • Saturday and Sunday afternoons jam the road back from the Tatras. The fare stopped moving the moment you paid, so a slow run costs you nothing but the hour.
  • Ring the number on your booking and hoppa's team replies in an average of 11 seconds, through the small hours when Krakow takes its last arrivals.

Can an AI assistant book hoppa?

Yes. If you plan trips through an AI assistant, it can handle the search, the comparison and the booking itself, using Mastercard's Agentic Pay platform, powered by hoppa and 70,000+ vetted providers. You say where and when, and you see what it chose before anything is confirmed.

Krakow Airport terminal guide & tips

Krakow runs a single passenger terminal at Balice, which keeps the arrival simple. Carry three things in your head on the way through:

  • One terminal handles every airline, so your meeting point does not depend on who you flew with.
  • The rail platform sits beside the terminal and runs into Krakow Glowny, the main station in the city.
  • Ski and board bags come off the outsize belt rather than the main carousel. Pick yours up first, then walk out to the driver.

Krakow John Paul II International Airport (KRK)

One terminal, a train to the main station, and when a shared seat stops being the cheap answer

Arrivals

Krakow runs one passenger terminal at Balice, about 11 km west of the city. Clear passport control, collect your cases, then pick up skis and oversized bags from the outsize baggage belt. Head through to the arrivals hall, where your driver is waiting. Your e-ticket names the driver and gives you a number to call.

Private transfers

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall, past the barrier, holding a sign showing your name or the 'hoppa' logo.

Shared shuttle seats

Head to the marked pick-up bay outside the hall. The vehicle waits for the other booked passengers, so allow for that before you set off.

Delays & Driver Info

1

Free waiting time

On a domestic flight, your up to 60 minutes of free waiting starts when you land. On an international flight, a 30-minute buffer is added to your landing time first to cover the outsize belt handing back skis and boards, and the free wait starts after it.

Delayed, diverted or landing early?

Your driver follows your flight from the moment you board. Winter fog sits in the Krakow basin and occasionally sends an arrival on to Katowice or Warsaw. Your driver sees it before the hall does and will contact you to reposition or rebook. A delayed flight simply moves your pick-up, with nothing for you to do.

?

Can't find your driver?

Stay inside the arrivals hall and call the number on your e-ticket. hoppa's team picks up in an average of 11 seconds, a 99.7% call answer rate: a real person, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The hoppa help centre answers most questions before you need to call.

General Travel Information

zl

Currency & tipping

Poland runs on the zloty and card is taken almost everywhere, though a market stall may want cash. Prices on this page are shown in pounds. Rounding a restaurant bill up is normal, and your hoppa fare is settled in advance, so nothing changes hands in the car.

T

Peak traffic

The ring road west of the city slows between 07:30 and 09:00 and again from 16:00. The road back from the Tatras fills on Sunday afternoons through the winter, which matters far more to a Zakopane return than to a city run.

!

Avoid unofficial taxis

Ignore anyone who approaches you inside the hall with an offer. Your driver holds your surname and will not solicit. If you want a metered taxi instead, use the official rank outside and read the rate card in the window before you get in.

R

Honest alternative

A train runs from the platform beside the terminal into Krakow Glowny, the main station. Tickets are sold per person at the station. For one person travelling light to a bed near the station it is the sensible choice, and we would rather say so than sell you a car you do not need. With cases, children or a Kazimierz address it stops being the easy option.

What to do around Krakow?

If your flight home leaves late in the day, the city repays the morning.

  • The Cloth Hall in the middle of the Main Market Square has traded since the 1300s and still sells amber and sheepskin from its arcade.
  • Wawel Cathedral holds the tombs of the Polish kings, and the castle courtyards below it are free to walk.
  • The Wieliczka salt mine south of the city runs guided routes through chapels carved entirely out of rock salt.

How early does the car need to leave Kazimierz for your flight home?

Book the run back to Krakow Airport at the same time as the one into town!

Buy the way out at the same moment you buy the way in. A car then stands at your Krakow door at the hour you named. A departure leaves you very little slack. You get up to 15 minutes of free waiting after the pick-up time. Pack the night before so nothing is still open when the car arrives.

Balice runs one terminal and its desks want you there two hours ahead of a European departure. Count back from that. The run in from the Old Town or Kazimierz takes about half an hour. The run down from Zakopane takes two, and a Sunday takes longer still, when the Zakopianka fills with everybody driving back to the city at once.

Ready to book your Krakow airport transfer?

The flight to Krakow is the cheap part and also the easy part. But the hour after it sets the tone: dark, cold, cases in hand, and a fare nobody has committed to yet.

Settle it in advance and that hour comes back to you. Your price is locked in, a driver stands in the arrivals hall waiting under your name, and nothing is up for discussion at the kerb if you book with hoppa.

The hoppa app handles a change of name, contact number or passenger count from your phone, where your booking is eligible, and Poland opens up the rest of the map, Warsaw and the Baltic coast included. Book now!

Krakow airport transfers: Frequently asked questions

How much is a transfer from Krakow Airport to the Old Town?

Shared seats start at £26 each. The whole car holds 3 and costs £28. A minibus seating eight is £40. The drive takes around half an hour on dual carriageway. A pair spends less on the whole car than on two of those seats. Prices are indicative.

Shared seat or private car from Krakow Airport: which costs less?

On your own, the seat, by £2. That margin is thin, and you buy it with a wait at the pick-up bay. With company, the car. A pair pays £52 for two seats into the Old Town where one car asks £28 and carries 3 with the cases aboard. Seats sell by the head. Cars sell once. That single difference settles every booking on this road.

How much is a transfer from Krakow Airport to Zakopane?

Zakopane costs £134. That buys the whole private car, 3 aboard. £174 buys a minibus holding 8. The drive runs close to two hours on the Zakopianka. Split between a full vehicle, that is roughly £22 a head. No shared seat runs this road, so every Tatras transfer is private. Prices are indicative.

Why does Zakopane cost so much more than the Krakow city centre?

Distance. The city run is about half an hour of main road. Zakopane is a hundred minutes south, climbing into the Tatras, and the driver comes back empty afterwards. £134 divided by the 3 seats in the car is about £45 each for a two-hour mountain drive to the door. The figure is the road, not a ski surcharge.

How much is a transfer from Krakow Airport to Kazimierz?

A shared seat to Kazimierz is £24 per person and a private car is £29, with a minibus at £33. The drive is about 25 minutes. Kazimierz is where a lot of visitors end up staying, and the narrow streets are easier arrived at by car than walked to from a tram stop with cases.

Is the train from Krakow Airport cheaper than a transfer?

For one person travelling light, yes. A train runs from the platform beside the terminal into Krakow Glowny, the main station, with tickets sold per person at the station. Two things decide whether it suits you: how much you are carrying, and how far your bed is from that station. A Kazimierz apartment with two cases is a different proposition from a hotel on the station square.

Can I share a transfer from Krakow Airport with other passengers?

Yes, on the city legs. A seat to the Old Town costs £26 per person, and one to Kazimierz £24. The vehicle can wait at the terminal for up to 45 minutes while the other booked seats fill, then calls at several addresses. A private transfer carries your group alone and leaves when you reach it.

Does hoppa run a shared shuttle to Zakopane?

No. Every Tatras transfer is a private vehicle, from £134 for a car seating 3. A hundred minutes of mountain road is not a journey that fills a shared vehicle at sensible intervals. A minibus at £174 spreads the fare across up to 8 people, which is the cheaper route for a group.

Can I take skis and a snowboard in a hoppa transfer from Krakow?

Yes. Tell us how many pairs and boards are travelling and the vehicle sent will have room for them. Carrying kit adds nothing to the fare. Gear you declare travels with you. Gear you leave off the booking may have nowhere to go, and the kerb outside the terminal is a poor place to discover that.

Where do I meet my driver at Krakow Airport?

Balice has one passenger terminal, so there is one arrivals hall and one place to stand. Come through the barrier and look for your surname on a board, with the hoppa name beside it. Pick up skis and board bags from the outsize belt on the way. Anything bigger than a car waits out on the forecourt, at the point printed on your e-ticket.

Will my driver wait if my flight into Krakow is delayed?

Yes. Your pick-up follows the aircraft itself rather than the schedule on your boarding pass. On a domestic flight, your up to 60 minutes of free waiting starts when you land. On an international flight, a 30-minute buffer is added to your landing time first, and the free wait starts after it. Should fog in the basin push your flight on to Katowice, hoppa's operator calls you and runs it from there.

Are taxis at Krakow Airport safe to use?

The rank outside the hall is licensed, and the tariff card sits in the cab window. Give it a look first. What is worth avoiding is the stranger in the hall who offers you a lift. A pre-booked transfer ends that conversation before it starts. Your price was settled in sterling when you booked.

Will the car have winter tyres for the drive to Zakopane?

Your driver owns that. Polish rules require proper winter rubber on the mountain roads through the season. Every vehicle running the Zakopianka is equipped, and the drivers do the climb several times a week. When a pass closes, your operator takes the other road rather than cancelling on you. The price on your booking does not move.

How long does the transfer from Krakow Airport to Zakopane really take?

Close to two hours in normal conditions. Sunday afternoons add to it, when everybody drives back towards the city at once. Snow on the climb can add more. None of that touches your fare, which was settled at booking. A Saturday morning run south is noticeably quicker than a Sunday evening one.

Which Warsaw airport should I use instead of Krakow?

Neither, for Krakow itself. Warsaw Chopin is roughly three hours north by road and serves a different city. Fly into Krakow for the Old Town, Kazimierz and the Tatras. Warsaw makes sense when the trip starts in the capital, and hoppa covers both gateways the same way.

Can one vehicle take a school group or a whole choir from Krakow Airport?

Yes. A private minibus carries up to 22 passengers with one bag each, and a private coach seats up to 60, so a twenty-five-strong ski club, or every guest from one Kazimierz apartment, travels together on one fixed all-in price. Give your final headcount and luggage count at booking so the right size meets you. Larger vehicles carry longer cancellation windows: 48 hours for 8 to 14 seaters and 14 days for 16 seats and above. Cancel a 16+ seater less than 14 days but more than 7 days and you get half the booking value back. Inside 7 days you get nothing.

Does the Krakow transfer price include tolls and the night-time surcharge?

Yes, both sit inside the price already. Your e-ticket figure swallows the Balice pick-up charge, the tolls on the road south and any night hours between 22:00 and 08:00. Nothing is counted out in zloty at your door. You settle the lot in sterling when you book.

Can I add a child seat to my Krakow transfer?

Yes. The first child seat is free with every hoppa transfer. Request it at booking, with your child's age, so the driver fits it before you land. A seat that is not on the booking can mean a refused ride with no refund, so add it when you book rather than on the day.

Can I cancel or change my Krakow transfer?

Yes. For cars and vehicles up to 7 seats, cancel at least 24 hours before travel for a full refund. For 8 to 14 seat vehicles the window is 48 hours, and for 16 seats and above it is 14 days.

Do I pay the driver on arrival?

No. You pay in full at booking and your e-ticket is your receipt. hoppa accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro and PayPal at checkout. The driver has nothing to collect. Krakow keeps its tipping to restaurants, where rounding the bill upwards is the usual gesture.
