Mons Located at the junction of the Canal du Centre and the Cond&eacute;-Mons Canal, it is the processing and shipping center of the Borinage district. Mons is a manufacturing centre. Mons has a few places of higher education. The Polytechnic Facilty, the Academy of Beaux Arts, the Royal Conservatory of Music, and the Higher Institute of Architecture. There are a lot of lovely old buildings. Near Mons is a place called Spiennes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mine, 4400-2000BC is the only sight to see in Spiennes and the oldest mine in Europe. Hoppa is always available to drive you to your destination.
