The port city of Bordeaux is located on the Garonne river in the south west of France. The city is often nicknamed ‘La Belle Endormie’ (The Sleeping Beauty) and is the wine capital of the world. If that’s not enough to justify a holiday there, then how about its oceanic climate, or its wonderfully diverse inhabitants - a mixture of French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, German, African and Asian.
Bordeaux is a classy city of art, culture and history and is also a popular destination for cinema crews seeking beautiful surroundings. There is an abundance of sights to see and things to do during your stay, particular highlights being Esplanade des Quinconces, the largest square in Europe, Grand Theatre which dates back to the 18th Century, the Fine Arts Museum, and Europe’s longest-span vertical lift bridge. There’s also a pedestrian only shopping street in the heart of Bordeaux, Rue Sainte-Catherine where you’ll find 1.2km of shops, restaurants and cafes. The shops range from bargain stores to more exclusive boutiques with something for everyone.
Bordeaux Merignac Airport (BOD) is where your holiday will begin, and hoppa can take care of your Bordeaux Merignac Airport transfers for you, taking the hassle and stress off your shoulders whether you’re heading into the city or the beautiful Bordeaux River Port.
