The little town of Lixouri was built on the site where the ancient city of Pali used to stand, which was one of the four principal cities of Kefalonia during Antiquity.

Lixouri is obviously smaller than Argostoli but the pair both have waterfronts that mix the picturesque and the ugly and each has its own central square which the centre of attention. The main square of the village is Plateia Petritsi and is surrounded by many cafes and bars that are full of animation. Some nice festivals are also hosted on this lively square. The inhabitants of Lixouri are famous for their musical capacities and the village has one of the oldest and most important orchestras. of Greece.

The waterfront has a number of restaurants that vary in quality and appearance with the port at its centre. Here you will find one of the nicest buildings in the village with its pinky cream exterior.
