Pessada is a very small traditional Greek village, situated on the south coast of Kefalonia with a small ferry port and a fishing harbour.

The village has excellent views of the Livatho coastline and Lourdas beach. There are also lovely views of the slopes of Mount Ainos and the impressive silouhette of Saint Georges Castle is a local landmark.

It is also famous on the island for its seafaring traditions which brought its prosperity and small secluded coves can be found nearby for a spot of fishing.

Pessada is also the home of the Kefalonia Game Farm where a variety of birds such as pheasant and quail are raised for hunters from all over Europe.

Pessada is a pretty rural village with a variety of flora growing wild as well as adorning the gardens of the local village houses. The area is ideal for walking as the terrain is fairly flat. Breathe in the heady herbal scents and listen out for the tinkling of goat bells.

The Divino winery in Pessada is open to the public for viewing with guided tours and wine-tasting on offer. Over a dozen different wines are available to buy direct from the winery.

Divino was established in 1986 in the village of Pessada when a 17th century family winery was restored by Gerassimos Hartoularis. The winemaker is particularly interested in producing sweet, semi-sweet and semi-dry wines. This was the first winery to produce sweet White Muscat of Kefalonia. The grapes are sun-dried in the restored stone linos where traditionally grapes were trodden.
