Agios Fokas is a tourist resort, organized and developed during the last few years; it is situated at the southern coast of the island, at a distance of 8 kilometers southeastern to the town of Kos. It counts only a few permanent residents.

In fact, the place is less of a real settlement than an extended complex of thinly built tourist construction, starting almost from the town of Kos and ending up at the beach of Thermes, with intervals of fields, very nice and overgrown.

The archaeological evidence shows that the area had been inhabited since prehistoric times. At the nearby settlement of Thermes (some 2 kilometers far away, at the West) you may see the nice small church of Aghios Georgios (St. George). The church is found at a low hill above the thermal springs at the beach, and it is hidden by imposing rocks.

Organizing accommodation is easy in several hotels open from April or May (Easter period) until October. You will find many restaurants and traditional taverns along the coast in the whole area, from the town of Kos up to Thermes; and several snack bars and fast foods will provide you light meals.

The beach of Aghios Fokas, partly sandy and partly pebbly, is very nice for swimming and the visitors will have the chance to enjoy several sea sport facilities. You may also swim at the nearby beach of Thermes, some 2 kilometers far from Aghios Focas at the West, where you will also find thermal springs.

In case of health problems, the Health Services of the town of Kos are very close (8 kilometers to the Northwest).

Access from the town of Kos is easy by public buses, running frequently, by taxi and by rented or private car and motorbikes.
