From 1576 what eventually became the town of Boadilla Del Monte was royal property, and was a famous hunting reserve. It’s believed that the town was planned around the church of San Cristóba in the vicinity of the remains of an Arab wall. In 1998 Boadilla Del Monte’s town council acquired the Palace of the Infante Don Luis de Borbón – declared a national monument in 1974.

There are a number of attractions in the Boadilla area. The Museo Nacional del Prado is an art museum with works from Valazquez, Goya and El Greco in its vast 12th to 19th Century collection. For art from a more modern era try the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, which is home to a 20th Century art collection from the brushes of Gris, Dali, Picasso and Miro.
