Elda is the seventh most populous city in the province of Alicante, in Spain. It is noted for its production of shoes and is home to the Footwear Museum, which exhibits famous shoes from all over the world and demonstrates how they were made. Other landmarks of the city include the Santa Ana Church and the Castle of Elda.

Elda celebrates the festival of Moros y Cristianos every year – this is a celebration representing the wars that took place during the Reconquista period. It features colourful parades, music and simulated battles, and is well worth a visit for an insight into the fascinating Spanish culture.
