What Combloux travellers ask before they book

You want two answers before you book: how quick Geneva really is, and why the station carrying this village's name will not put you in it.

The basics

Which airport should I fly into for Combloux?

Geneva. You get 80 km of road, nearly all of it motorway, and an hour and ten to the door from £414, and nothing beats it at any size up to a 23-seat coach.

How far is Combloux from Geneva Airport?

About 80 km. You take the Autoroute Blanche to Sallanches, then the D113 climbs seven kilometres and 450 vertical metres to your door.

How much is a transfer?

From £414 for a private car with three seats. You hire the car and everything strapped into it, and your figure stops moving the moment you pay.

Is there a shared shuttle from Geneva Airport to Combloux?

No. There is no shared shuttle on this route. You book the whole car or minibus for your own party, and it leaves when you are in it.

Is Combloux the same place as Sallanches?

No, and it catches people out. You pass through Sallanches on the valley floor at 550 m, where the station, the hospital and the supermarkets are. Your village is 7 km further up the hill at about 1,000 m.

How far is Combloux from Megève?

About 5 km by road. You get the Évasion Mont-Blanc pass on both, and the Jaillet lifts join them, so you sleep here and ski there.

Can I get a transfer to the Megève side lifts?

Yes. Put your exact address on the booking. The village spreads along a shelf, and the Jaillet gondola sits at one end of it.

Which vehicle fits my group?

How many people and how much luggage fit in each vehicle?

Vehicle categories include Sedan, Business Sedan, Minivan, Business Minivan, Minibus and Bus. Each has a strict insured maximum for passengers and luggage that drivers must adhere to. Default luggage allowance is one 24-inch suitcase per passenger. Bags larger than 24″ count as two pieces. Choose a category that fits both your party and your bags.

Will I get the exact car shown in the picture?

Vehicle images are for illustration only. You're booking a category, not a specific model, and we may upgrade you to a higher category at no extra charge if your selected one isn't available.

Can I add a child seat for my baby or toddler?

Yes. We offer infant carriers, baby seats and boosters depending on your supplier and route. Add the seat type you need during booking so it can be confirmed in advance.

How much does a child seat cost?

The first child seat in your booking is included free. Any additional seats may carry a fee from the supplier. The exact amount is shown in your booking quote before you pay, so there are no surprises.

I forgot to request a child seat: can I add it after booking?

Yes. Contact customer service as soon as possible to add it to your booking. Late requests are honoured subject to availability, so the sooner you ask, the better. Important: no refund or replacement applies if a driver arrives without a seat that wasn't requested in time.

Is my child seat guaranteed once I've added it to my booking?

If you've added the seat at the time of booking, it's confirmed with your transport supplier. Seats requested after the booking is placed are subject to availability. If a seat ends up unavailable on arrival because it wasn't requested in time, no refund applies.

Can I bring a pet or service animal?

Yes, at no extra charge. Notify us at booking so the right vehicle is allocated. Important: animals count toward the vehicle's passenger capacity, so a 5-seat vehicle with two pets has three human seats.

Do you have wheelchair-accessible options?

Yes. Note any accessibility need (wheelchair, mobility scooter, special assistance) in the booking comments. We work with specialised partners and make reasonable efforts to accommodate.

What if my flight is delayed?

Will my driver wait if my flight is late?

Yes. Your driver waits up to 60 minutes free on airport pickups. International flights add a 30-minute buffer on top, so the free waiting period starts after that buffer ends.

What if my flight is delayed by more than 2 hours?

A delay that long may mean your transfer has to be rescheduled, so call the number on your e-ticket as soon as you know. Customer service will coordinate a new pickup time with the driver. If your driver cannot pick you up as scheduled, your order is cancelled without charge.

What if my flight is cancelled entirely?

Your transfer is cancelled free of charge. Contact customer service immediately so we can update the booking.

What if my flight is diverted to a different airport?

Contact us immediately. We'll do our best to reschedule your pickup, though we can't guarantee a free transfer if the new airport is in a different region or significantly further from your destination.

Where will I meet my driver?

24 hours before pickup we send a final SMS or WhatsApp with the exact meeting point and your driver's contact details. Meet & greet at the arrival gate is available on request, subject to airport policy. If it is not possible at the gate, we'll assign an alternative meeting point.

What if I'm stuck inside the airport (luggage, immigration)?

Use the emergency number on your e-ticket to call the driver or local supplier and let them know you're still in the terminal. The driver will wait through their free period and, if reached in time, can sometimes extend.

What counts as a no-show?

Not appearing within the free waiting period and being unreachable for additional time. No-shows are charged in full and non-refundable.

Best price & current deals

Where can I find a discount code?

Active offers are applied automatically when you search. There's nothing to enter manually. To see what's currently running, check our discount codes page or our homepage banner.

Should I book early?

Yes. We recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance for the best vehicle selection. Bookings within 24 hours are subject to availability and may carry an expedited service fee. Booking early also locks in today's price.

Is there a low-deposit option?

On selected services and destinations, yes. Pay a deposit now and the balance before your travel date. If the balance isn't paid in time the booking auto-cancels and the deposit is forfeited. Note: low-deposit bookings can't be paid with hoppa Credits.

What is Refund Protect?

Yes. hoppa Credits apply automatically to your next booking when you log in with the same email. They expire 12 months after issue, can't be transferred between accounts, and can't be combined with low-deposit bookings.

Can I cancel and get a refund?

Yes, depending on timing and vehicle size. Up to 7 seats: free cancellation more than 24 hours before pickup; 100% charge within 24 hours. 8–14 seats: free outside 48 hours. 16+ seats: free outside 14 days, 50% within 14–7 days, 100% within 7 days. Approved refunds reach your original payment method in 5 to 7 business days.

Common problems on the way to Combloux, and how hoppa solves them

Nearly everything that goes wrong for you here comes from three place names sitting within seven kilometres of each other on one road up a hillside.

Challenge Solution How do we solve it?
You plan to finish by train to Sallanches-Combloux-Megève Book through to your chalet door instead. That station stands in Sallanches, 7 km away and 450 vertical metres below the village, and the road up it climbs the whole way. The name on the platform is not where you are going.
You book to 'Combloux' and leave the rest blank Put the chalet name or the hamlet on your booking. The village runs along a shelf rather than around a square, and the lift station sits at one end of it. Give your driver an address and he stops at it. Give him a village name and he stops where he judges the middle to be.
You assume Megève prices mean Megève transfers Price your transfer separately from your bed. You sleep 5 km short of Megève, on the same road and the same lift pass. Your transfer runs a few minutes shorter and starts at £414.
You are waiting at a meeting point for a vehicle that is not coming Book the vehicle, not a seat. Everything hoppa runs on this road is private. You pay £414 for a car for three, and it carries your party and nobody else's.
You count people and forget the kit Declare your ski and board bags and let them size the vehicle. Every vehicle carries one bag per seat. Five of you with board bags have outgrown the MPV, so take the 8-seat minibus at £611.
A group of thirty books Geneva on autopilot Price the 36-seat coach from more than one country. Geneva quotes it at £4,153. Turin quotes you the same coach at £2,410, through the Mont Blanc tunnel. Spend an hour checking before anybody books flights.
Your flight slips and the plan comes apart Your driver watches the aircraft, not the clock. Put your flight number on the booking. Your pickup carries up to 60 minutes of free waiting, and international arrivals add another 30.

Why do Combloux travellers choose a private transfer with hoppa?

You have a short transfer with one awkward end. The Autoroute Blanche does seventy of the eighty kilometres at motorway speed, and then the road leaves the valley at Sallanches and climbs 450 m in seven kilometres of bends to the shelf your village sits on. The motorway half asks nothing of you. The last seven kilometres in the dark, after snow, with a boot full of ski bags, is the part worth handing to somebody local.

You are buying the vehicle here, not a place in one. Nobody gets added to your job after you book it, your figure is settled when you pay rather than at the far end, and your driver holds your flight number, so a late aircraft rearranges his day instead of your fare.

hoppa works with 70,000+ vetted local fleet providers across 182+ countries and 2,600+ airports and resorts, and has carried 40M+ travellers. What that gets you on this run is thirteen vehicles from Geneva alone, from a car for three up to a coach for thirty-six.

Anything up to seven seats cancels free with 24 hours' notice. Winter tyres are compulsory on the climb from Sallanches between November and March, and every vehicle hoppa sends up it has them fitted.

With a standard ride app When you book with hoppa
Choosing the airport You compare five gateways across two countries and lose an evening. You book Geneva from £414. Nearest, quickest, and cheapest at every size up to a 23-seat coach.
The last seven kilometres You get to Sallanches by train and start looking for a taxi at 22:00. The booking goes to the village address and the climb is somebody else's problem.
Your address You type the resort name and hope. You give the hamlet or the chalet. The village runs along a shelf rather than around a centre.
Hoping to share the ride and split the cost You wait at a meeting point for a service hoppa does not run. You book the whole vehicle from £414 and leave when you are in it.
Sizing the vehicle You count heads and discover the boot at the kerbside. You declare the ski bags and the form sizes the vehicle around them.
Booking a coach for thirty You assume the nearest airport is the cheapest at every size. You check Turin and Chambéry too. At 36 seats Geneva is the dearest of the four.
What you pay A meter, a supplement for the skis, and a total you learn at the end. One fixed fare for the vehicle, settled online before you fly.

How long is the transfer from Geneva Airport to Combloux?

Give it an hour and ten for your 80 km and you have one of the quickest resort transfers in the French Alps. The geography is doing you a favour: the Autoroute Blanche runs up the Arve valley to Sallanches, and Sallanches sits directly below the village.

So you get seventy kilometres of motorway and seven kilometres of hillside. The hillside takes longer than you expect it to. The D113 lifts you 450 m in bends, the only stretch of your journey that behaves like a mountain road. After heavy snow, add fifteen minutes to the whole run rather than to the motorway.

Every other gateway puts real distance between you and the snow. Chambéry is about 125 km and an hour and forty, Grenoble about 165 km and two hours, Lyon about 205 km and two and a quarter, Turin about 200 km and two and three quarters through the Mont Blanc tunnel. Book a car or a minibus and none of them repays you for the extra road.

Route Drive time Approx. cost per vehicle Vehicle type
Geneva Airport (GVA) to Combloux ~1 hr 10 · 80 km £414–£4,153private car to 8-seat minibus Private car up to a 36-seat coach. Thirteen vehicles, motorway almost to the door, and the lowest fare at every size up to twenty-three seats. An 8-seat minibus is £611. The recommendation
Chambéry Airport (CMF) to Combloux ~1 hr 40 · 125 km £381–£3,170private car to 8-seat minibus Private car up to a 36-seat coach, on a short seasonal schedule. The lowest car on the page, and an 8-seat minibus at £440. Above eight seats it climbs hard: £1,815 at ten
Grenoble (GNB) to Combloux ~2 hr · 165 km £416–£10,617private car to 8-seat minibus Private car up to a 36-seat coach. A cheap car and a cheap 8-seat minibus at £490, then the steepest climb on the page: £4,752 at ten seats
Lyon Saint-Exupéry (LYS) to Combloux ~2 hr 15 · 205 km £690–£3,680private car to 8-seat minibus Private car up to a 36-seat coach. Dearer than Geneva at the bottom and much further. Worth it only when the flights leave you no Geneva option
Turin (TRN) to Combloux ~2 hr 45 · 200 km £719–£2,410private car to 8-seat minibus Private car up to a 36-seat coach, through the Mont Blanc tunnel. Poor value for a family and the best coach price on the page: £2,290 at twenty-three seats and £2,410 at thirty-six

Please note: Every price buys you the whole vehicle. The drive times allow for your slow climb out of Sallanches. Turin's times assume the Mont Blanc tunnel is open and moving, which on a Saturday in February is not a small assumption. Prices are indicative.

A cleared motorway running along a valley floor in winter with snow-covered mountains rising on both sides

How much is a Combloux transfer?

Three of you out of Geneva pay £414 for a private car, and Geneva keeps that lead all the way up to a 23-seat coach. Whether you are a couple, a family or a chalet party, your shortest drive is your cheapest fare too, and that settles your airport question.

Chambéry and Grenoble each list a cheaper car and a cheaper eight-seat minibus. Both are real and both are traps for most of you: you add thirty to fifty minutes in each direction, and both ladders climb steeply the moment your party outgrows eight seats.

Geneva only falls apart at the top. Its 36-seat coach costs £4,153, dearer than any of the four other gateways at that size. Turin quotes you the same coach at £2,410, and its 23-seat at £2,290.

Your saving is real and it has a condition on it. Turin reaches this valley through the Mont Blanc tunnel, which closes for maintenance in the autumn and queues on changeover Saturdays. If you are planning a club or school trip months ahead, make that check. If you need certainty on one specific afternoon, pay Geneva's price and keep your road simple. You pay per vehicle and never per person, and your fare is fixed at the moment you book. Split the £611 minibus from Geneva eight ways and you can see why one vehicle beats a convoy across an hour and ten with a board bag each.

Check the specification of each vehicle type if your group sits near a boundary. Your first child seat is free and must be requested at booking, alongside any other extras you need. Pets and service animals are permitted and count toward the vehicle's passenger allowance.

Vehicle type Max passengers Luggage capacity Why choose this option? Estimated price (one-way)
Private car Up to 3 3 bags Couples and threes, and your standard booking on this road. Chambéry undercuts it at £381, for thirty extra minutes each way. From From £414
Private MPV Up to 5 5 bags Families of four or five. Four seats cost you £524 and five £536, so your fifth seat is about twelve pounds. From From £536
Executive car Up to 3 3 bags The same three seats in a higher-specification car. £656 from Geneva, with the executive MPV at £713. From From £656
Private minibus 8 seats One bag per seat Where most parties land once you count the board bags rather than the people. Chambéry has it at £440 and Grenoble at £490, both a good deal further away. From From £611
Large minibus 10 to 16 One bag per seat Chalet parties, and where Geneva's lead becomes decisive. Ten seats are £864 here against £1,815 from Chambéry and £4,752 from Grenoble. Sixteen is £1,459. From From £864
Private coach 23 seats One bag per seat Clubs and school parties. Still Geneva's at £1,751, with Turin next at £2,290 and Chambéry at £2,781. From From £1,751
Large coach 36 seats One bag per seat The one size where Geneva charges you more than anywhere else. Turin is £2,410 through the tunnel, Chambéry £3,170, Lyon £3,680. Grenoble reaches £10,617. From From £4,153

Read this before you book the flight:

Book Geneva for anything up to a 23-seat coach and you get the quickest transfer of any French resort hoppa covers in this part of the Alps. Eighty kilometres, and seventy of them are motorway.

Your exception is a coach for thirty or more, where Turin costs £2,410 against Geneva's £4,153. Take that saving only if you do not mind carrying the Mont Blanc tunnel as a risk on the day.

Then spend the time you saved on your address. Sallanches, Combloux and Megève sit within seven kilometres of each other on one hillside, they share a railway station name, and only one of them has your bed in it.

How to book your Combloux transfer

Takes less than 200 seconds to complete.
Book Now
1

Enter your details

Arrival airport, dates, and the Combloux address itself. Not Sallanches, and not the railway station that carries all three village names.

2

Choose your vehicle

From Geneva the list runs from a private car to a 36-seat coach. Let the ski and board bags decide it, because every vehicle carries one bag per seat.

3

Add what the driver needs to know

Flight number, bag count, and a child seat if you need one. The first child seat is free, and the flight number is what keeps the driver there if you land late.

4

Pay once and arrive

The fare is fixed when you pay, by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro or PayPal. Your driver meets you in arrivals and nothing is owed at the far end.

How else can you get to Combloux?

Your train gets closer here than at most ski resorts, and that is exactly what makes it a trap. Sallanches-Combloux-Megève sits on the Saint-Gervais branch with a real service. It sits in Sallanches though, 7 km away and 450 vertical metres below the village, and the name on the platform sign does nothing about your hill.

So you have a good plan that ends one leg short. You arrive in the valley at 550 m with your equipment and the climb is still above you, usually in the dark, usually after the last local bus. A taxi off the rank will take you up at whatever the rate is that evening.

A hire car is your third route. The motorway is fast and the D113 is cleared and gritted through the winter, with winter tyres a legal requirement you pay for at the desk. You then keep paying for the car on every day it sits outside your chalet.

All three routes cover the same 80 km. What separates them is who drives your last seven, and at what hour. Compare what each one costs you below.

Transport option Indicative price to Combloux Journey time What's included / what to watch for
hoppa private car (Geneva to Combloux) From £414 per vehicle ~1 hr 10 · 80 km The straightforward booking. Three seats and three ski bags, terminal to chalet door, for £414.
hoppa private minibus (Geneva to Combloux) From £611 per vehicle ~1 hr 10 · 80 km The family row. Eight to sixteen seats with a bag each, which is usually what the equipment decides.
hoppa private coach (Turin to Combloux) From £2,290 per vehicle ~2 hr 45 · 200 km, via the Mont Blanc tunnel The group row. The cheapest coach on the page, with a tunnel on it. Check the tunnel calendar before you commit.
hoppa private car (Chambéry to Combloux) From £381 per vehicle ~1 hr 40 · 125 km The cheapest car. Thirty-odd pounds under Geneva, for about thirty extra minutes in each direction.
Train to Sallanches-Combloux-Megève Lowest cost, per person Gets you to 550 m, with 450 m still above you The station carries this village's name and is not in it. Every ski bag is yours to lift at each change, and the hill is still to come.
Local bus up from Sallanches Low, per person, on a fixed timetable Short, but only while it is running Fine in daylight travelling light. The evening service thins out well before the last flights into Geneva have landed.
Hire car from Geneva Airport Daily rate, plus fuel, winter tyres and parking ~1 hr 10, longer on the climb after heavy snow Motorway most of the way and a well-cleared climb. You still pay for the car on every ski day and parking at the lifts fills early.

What should you know about skiing Combloux in winter?

You are coming to a working Savoyard village on a south-facing shelf at about 1,000 m, and what it sells you is the view and the pass. Your balcony looks straight across the Sallanches basin at the Mont Blanc massif, and your lift pass is the one Megève skis on.

That pass is Évasion Mont-Blanc: Combloux, Megève, Saint-Gervais, Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce, La Giettaz and Les Contamines-Montjoie on one ticket. The Jaillet lifts above the village run into Megève's Jaillet sector, so you sleep here and ski there without ever getting in a car. The wider Ski Pass Mont-Blanc adds the Chamonix valley resorts on top.

Your local skiing is gentle, sunny and wide, and it tops out around 1,800 m rather than up on a glacier. You get a strong family mountain and a weaker one in a warm March. If high-altitude snow is what you want, pick a different resort, and better you hear it now than in February.

For your transfer that has one practical consequence. The village spreads along the shelf rather than gathering round a square, so put the hamlet or the chalet name on your booking and you start the week at the right end of it.

Your Combloux arrival guide, from the terminal to the first lift

Geneva handles ski traffic all winter and the road out of it moves. You take the motorway up the Arve valley to Sallanches, then the climb.

The tabs below follow your journey in the order it happens: getting your boards out of the terminal, the two very different halves of your drive, and the address question that catches people out here more than anywhere else in the valley.

Ski-goers' arrival guide to Combloux

Everything from wheels down to the first lift on the Mont Blanc balcony.

Out of the terminal with boards

Geneva has a French sector and a Swiss one, and it moves ski equipment all winter, so oversize baggage is routine here rather than an event. Follow the oversize belt signs and allow a little longer than the carousel suggests on a Saturday changeover.

Meeting your driver

Look for your surname on a board in the arrivals hall. Whoever is holding it has been tracking the aircraft you were on, which is why the booking asks for a flight number. Airport pickups include up to 60 minutes of free waiting, and international arrivals add a further 30.

Then the road

This is one of the shortest resort runs out of Geneva. On a clear afternoon you can be clipping into a lift the same day.

Seventy kilometres, then seven

The Autoroute Blanche runs up the Arve valley from Geneva to Sallanches at motorway speed. That is most of the journey and it asks nothing of anybody. Then the road leaves the valley floor at 550 m and climbs the D113 through a series of bends to the shelf the village sits on at about 1,000 m.

What the weather does

The motorway is rarely the problem. The climb is cleared as a priority: the villages above it have no other way down. Winter tyres are compulsory on it from November to March. Every hoppa vehicle carries them.

What the drive is like

Fast, then genuinely alpine for the last fifteen minutes. Add a quarter of an hour to the whole thing after heavy snow, and expect the motorway to be busier than the hill on a Saturday.

Three names, one signpost

Sallanches sits on the valley floor at 550 m with the railway station, the hospital and the supermarkets. Combloux is 7 km up the hill at about 1,000 m. Megève is 5 km beyond that. The station in the valley is called Sallanches-Combloux-Megève, which is helpful for the railway and misleading for everyone else.

What that means for the booking

Put the Combloux address on the booking, not the station and not the valley town. Arriving in Sallanches with ski bags at 22:00 leaves you 450 vertical metres short with no lift to take.

And which end of the village

Combloux runs along its shelf rather than around a square, and the Jaillet gondola is at one end of it. The hamlet name or the chalet name on the booking is what puts you at the right door.

What to settle before you land

Settle the address first and the vehicle second. Then check the pass: the Évasion Mont-Blanc ticket covers the local lifts plus Megève and Saint-Gervais, and the wider Ski Pass Mont-Blanc adds the Chamonix valley on top.

Declare the equipment

Ski and board bags size the vehicle here, not passenger count. Say what you are bringing and the booking form works around it. Guides to the best ski resorts in France, the top ski resorts in Europe and the best time to go skiing are worth a look while you are planning.

What to expect on the road to Combloux

Your village looks straight at Mont Blanc and shares its lift pass with the villages all around it. Below: what waits for you in the cities you fly into, and what the rest of your mountain is really like.

Can I cancel or change my hoppa transfer?

Yes, though cancelling and changing work differently.

Cancel in time and you get a full refund. The window depends on the size of vehicle you booked:

  • 7-seater and below: cancel at least 24 hours before pick-up.
  • 8 to 14 seater: cancel at least 48 hours before pick-up.
  • 16 seater and above: cancel at least 14 days before pick-up. Cancel between 7 and 14 days out and you get half the booking value back.

Refunds reach your original payment method in 5 to 7 business days.

Changes are narrower. You can update passenger names, contact numbers, passenger count and luggage count, as long as your party still fits the vehicle you booked. Anything else means cancelling and booking again at the current price. That covers a new pick-up time, a different address or a different vehicle.

Extras are more flexible. Up to 24 hours before pick-up you can adjust things like child seat details or the name on the pick-up sign.

If your flight is cancelled, contact hoppa straight away. You get a full refund on a ride you no longer need. Booking inside 24 hours of travel is still possible, though an expedited booking fee applies.

Is hoppa transfer reliable?

Yes. hoppa has moved more than 40 million travellers through 2,600+ airports and resorts across 182+ countries, working with a network of 70,000+ vetted local fleet providers. hoppa is trusted by Mastercard and UnionPay as the mobility infrastructure layer for agentic travel.

On the Geneva Airport (GVA) to Combloux route that reliability is practical, not abstract. Your driver tracks your inbound flight, so a delay moves your pickup rather than losing it. You get up to 60 minutes of free waiting time, plus a 30 minute buffer on international arrivals. If a delay runs more than 2 hours past your scheduled arrival, call the number on your e-ticket and hoppa will coordinate a new pickup time. If something does go wrong, hoppa's support team answers in an average of 11 seconds, 24/7, across chat, email and phone, with a 99.7% call answer rate.

Every vehicle on this route is operated by a vetted local company that drives the mountain roads all winter. The price you agree at booking is the price you pay, with no surcharge for snow, traffic or a late landing.

Can an AI assistant book hoppa?

Yes. hoppa is built as a global mobility platform that powers agentic transactions, which means an AI assistant can search, price and book a transfer on your behalf.

That is why hoppa is trusted by Mastercard and UnionPay as the mobility infrastructure layer for agentic travel. Fixed, all-in pricing and a structured inventory of 70,000+ vetted local fleet providers give an AI agent something unambiguous to act on: one price, one vehicle, one confirmed pickup.

Ask your assistant for a Geneva Airport (GVA) to Combloux transfer and it can return live availability, vehicle sizes and a fixed price without you opening a booking form.

Book your Combloux ski transfer with hoppa

Sallanches, Combloux and Megève sit on one hillside and share a railway station name, and only one of them has your bed in it. Getting that wrong at the end of a travel day costs you an evening you came here to spend somewhere else.

Book ahead and you settle it in the booking form instead of in a car park. You name the village and the chalet, your driver takes you to that door, and the seven kilometres of climbing road stop being your problem.

Book your Combloux transfer with hoppa and let the last bit of the journey look after itself.

Combloux ski transfer questions, answered

What is the nearest airport to Combloux?

Geneva, at about 80 km and an hour and ten. Book any vehicle up to a 23-seat coach and you will not better its price elsewhere, starting at £414.

Which airport is cheapest for Combloux?

Geneva for almost everything you might book. Chambéry lists a slightly cheaper car at £381 and Grenoble at £416, and both put much more road under you and climb steeply above eight seats.

How long does the transfer take?

About an hour and ten from Geneva. You spend seventy kilometres of it on motorway to Sallanches, then seven kilometres of climbing road up to the village.

Is the railway station in Combloux?

No. It stands in Sallanches on the valley floor, about 7 km away and 450 vertical metres below you. The name covers three places and the platform sits in one of them.

What altitude is Combloux?

You sleep at about 1,000 m on a south-facing shelf, with the skiing running up towards 1,850 m. That shelf gives you the views, and it is why your last 7 km climb as steeply as they do.

What time should I book the return transfer?

Work back from your flight: about fifteen minutes down the hill, an hour on the motorway, then check-in. A Saturday morning on the Autoroute Blanche runs slower than a midweek one, so leave yourself a margin.

Do the vehicles have winter tyres?

Yes. You climb the D113 out of the valley, and on that road they are a legal requirement between November and March. Every vehicle that works this climb is fitted for it.

How much luggage can I bring?

You get one piece per seat as standard, at 24 inches. Anything over 24 inches counts as two pieces, which is what your ski bag usually does.

Can I cancel or change my transfer?

You cancel free up to 24 hours before travel on anything up to seven seats. Eight to fourteen seats need 48 hours, and sixteen seats and above need 14 days.

Are child seats available?

Your first one costs nothing, provided you ask for it with the booking. A driver who reaches Geneva arrivals without it cannot solve that at the kerb, and neither can you.

Is there a surcharge for a night arrival?

Land between 22:00 and 08:00 local time and your pickup carries a nighttime surcharge. You see it in the price before you pay, so nothing is left to settle with the driver.

Is it cheaper to fly to Turin for Combloux?

Only if you need a coach. A 36-seat coach costs £2,410 from Turin against £4,153 from Geneva. Book a car or a minibus and Turin charges you more for two and three quarter hours through the Mont Blanc tunnel.

How do I pay, and is the price fixed?

You pay online when you book, by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro or PayPal. Your fare is fixed at that moment and you owe the driver nothing at the far end.
