After compiling a list of stargazing locations across Europe, the following factors were sourced.

* **Dark Sky Status:** Whether the location has a designated page on [darksky.org](https://darksky.org/)
* **Accessibility:** Sourced using [Google Maps](https://www.google.com/maps), looking at the time taken to get from the closest airport to the dark sky reserve/observatory.

Each location was given a normalised score out of 10 for each factor, with each factor given equal weighting. The average of these scores was calculated to produce an overall score out of 10 for each location.
